About this audiobook

The inspiring, life-changing bestseller by the author of LEADERS EAT LAST and TOGETHER IS BETTER.

In 2009, Simon Sinek started a movement to help people become more inspired at work, and in turn inspire their colleagues and customers. Since then, millions have been touched by the power of his ideas, including more than 28 million who've watched his TED Talk based on START WITH WHY -- the third most popular TED video of all time.

Sinek starts with a fundamental question: Why are some people and organizations more innovative, more influential, and more profitable than others? Why do some command greater loyalty from customers and employees alike? Even among the successful, why are so few able to repeat their success over and over?

People like Martin Luther King Jr., Steve Jobs, and the Wright Brothers had little in common, but they all started with WHY. They realized that people won't truly buy into a product, service, movement, or idea until they understand the WHY behind it.

START WITH WHY shows that the leaders who've had the greatest influence in the world all think, act, and communicate the same way -- and it's the opposite of what everyone else does. Sinek calls this powerful idea The Golden Circle, and it provides a framework upon which organizations can be built, movements can be led, and people can be inspired. And it all starts with WHY.

Great book that delivers on its title. To inspire we need to change our focus from what or how we do things to why we do them. He claims that shift can streamline communications inside and outside a company and is what helps to make an emotional connection. Its not that you have never heard this kind of idea, however it is the way he presents and plays with this concept that that makes it worth reading.

It had its good points, but a good editor would have done wonders. This book could have been half as long and would have been better for it.

The main take away for me was the golden circle. Besides that, while I can see why some companies losing their “why” affected them adversely, there was no discussion of what to do when following the “why” fails and/or realizing the “why” was wrong. The book pushed why the “why” was important and how veering from it can lead to failure but ultimately it was an oversimplified view that chose the actively lauded, well-known examples and never focused on the middle or smaller companies.

It’s all very simple starting with why, I suppose that’s why so many fail at the task. Simon lays it all out so that a child would understand which is great because let’s face it, we are all big kids playing in the sandbox called life .

Great Read. This book was very insightful yet simple. Many of the examples and topics covered are more or less known but the perspective from which the author wants us to see these problems is new and also different from which we are conditioned to believe in todays business environment. Best of all the book tells you how to go about finding your own why.

Giving examples of companies that have found their prosperity and success through finding their purpose as well as those who lost sight of their "why" and fell from greatness, Simon Sinek excellently emphasizes the importance of finding the meaning behind one's products. He argues that what keeps customers loyal to a company isn't necessarily the high quality of the products but that the company's purpose resonates with that of the customers. It is for this reason that Apple, for example, has been able to maintain a huge number of customers and keep their business going despite introducing a variety of products. It is not their products that keep them going, but the meaning that Steve Jobs introduced as the foundation or backbone of the company, whereas a company like Dell failed in doing so because instead of "why", they were focused on "what". This book ends with a very inspiring chapter in which Simon says "if you compete against everyone else, no one wants to help you. If you compete against yourself, everyone wants to help you." This is an inspiring book to read/listen for anyone who values and wants to pursue creativity and I recommend it.

This book is the embodiment of Simon Sinek. For anyone to be happy and content in their life “ we have to understand why we are doing...to have a clear sense of why”. That makes people to look into life in a clear and optimistic way. I recommend this book to everyone who wants to achieve what they want to achieve.
