About this audiobook
Internationally acclaimed bestselling author Byron Katie’s most anticipated work since Loving What Is.
In A Mind at Home with Itself, Byron Katie illuminates one of the most profound ancient Buddhist texts, The Diamond Sutra (newly translated by distinguished scholar Stephen Mitchell) to reveal the nature of the mind and to liberate us from painful thoughts, using her revolutionary system of self-inquiry called “The Work.” Byron Katie doesn’t merely describe the awakened mind; she empowers us to see it and feel it, in action. At once startlingly fresh and powerfully enlightening, A Mind at Home with Itself offers us a transformative new perspective on life and death and is certain to become a classic.
In the midst of a normal American life, Byron Katie became increasingly depressed and over a ten-year period sank further into despair and suicidal thoughts. Then one morning in 1986 she woke up in a state of absolute joy, filled with the realization of how her own suffering had ended. The freedom of that realization has never left her. Its direct result, The Work, has helped millions of people all over the world to question their stressful thoughts and set themselves free from suffering.
Byron Katie
BYRON KATIE discovered inquiry in 1986. She has been traveling around the world since 1992, teaching The Work directly to hundreds of thousands of people at free public events, in prisons, hospitals, churches, corporations, battered women’s facilities, universities and schools, at weekend intensives, the nine-day School for The Work, and her 28-day Turnaround House. She is the author of three bestselling books: Loving What Is, I Need Your Love-Is That True?, and A Thousand Names for Joy. Her other books are Question Your Thinking-Change the World, Who Would You Be Without Your Story?, A Friendly Universe, and, for children, Tiger-Tiger, Is It True?. Her website is www.thework.com, where you will find many free materials to download, as well as audio and video clips, a schedule of events, and a free helpline. STEPHEN MITCHELL’S many books include the bestselling Tao Te Ching, The Selected Poetry of Rainer Maria Rilke, Gilgamesh, The Gospel According to Jesus, The Book of Job, The Second Book of the Tao, The Iliad, and The Odyssey. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Very unique approach of inquiry is described - highly recommended way to gain insight into what is. The way is quite different, and in my opinion is quite more suited fo our modern life. The “work” can be practiced anywhere and everywhere, and it is a robust way to question “myself”. I applaud her efforts, and very thankful for revealing the method to the humanity. Suffering is optional!

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Byron Katie can be tough love to the max. But it’s always true, that our thoughts are everything. I’ve listened to many of her books, & I find them all valuable. I wish she was somehow an Aunt of mine! But her audiobooks are a great 2nd place! I recommend her to so many people! She’s a game changer for our thought patterns!
