About this audiobook
In mine, I plead and wait for your touch to come like it always did.
But it never does.
I strain against the iron, but you're no longer there in the shadows.
I'm alone.
One single shard of deep dark hope was enough back then.
Not now.
My claws, your fangs have sunk deep.
Follow my trail of blood, my trail of anger, desolation.
Am I the same man?
Soul dark,
Heart dense,
Blood fierce,
Purpose raw.
Flame burning.
Unrelenting.
Brewed on vengeance, laced with tenderness, my fury for you.”
Chained in brutal darkness, they fell in love. Free in the world, they were torn apart. Empires rise, empires fall, and still, she burns in his soul. But between them now runs a wild river of ambition, greed, and blood. So much blood. He'll do anything for revenge, and she'll do anything to protect him.
Love and vengeance are the same kind of savage . . .
Contains mature themes.

CAT PORTER was born and raised in New York City, but also spent a few years in Europe, Texas and the suburbs along the way. As an introverted, only child, she had very big, but very secret dreams for herself. She graduated from Vassar College, was a struggling actress, a SoHo art gallery girl, special events planner, freelance writer, and had all sorts of other crazy jobs all hours of the day and night to help make those dreams come true. She has two children's books traditionally published under her maiden name. She now lives on a beach in Greece with her husband, three children, and huge Cane Corso, and freaks out regularly and still daydreams way too much and now doesn't give AF. She is addicted to old movies, the History Channel, her iPad, her husband's homemade red wine, really dark chocolate, and her Nespresso coffee machine. Writing keeps her somewhat sane, extremely happy, and a productive member of society. If you enjoy emotional, character driven epic tales, her books are for you. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I see The Fury often described as a "fast-paced, action-packed thriller", and it does deserve that description, likely to entertain most readers who enjoy such.Personally, I found the high-level story construction—weaving together threads from the vicious world of Mexican drug cartels, U.S. border patrol, a massive deepwater oil-rig disaster, Chicago police, federal prison life, and an unexpected cache of super-deadly nerve gas with its own backstory—to fit together rather nicely and make for an interesting landscape on which for the story to maneuver. The page-to-page writing, however, wasn't always as smooth, as some action-descriptions sometimes stumbled over bits of unclarity; the author's frequent use of action similies, mostly quick and amusing, would occasionally fall flat; and many points (mostly in the first half of the book) cried out in desperate need of a good editor, including little things like sudden scene-changes with no vertical separation or an occasional word missing or typoed.Still, overall, it was a fun read, with its moments of humor and satisfaction, and will likely continue to entertain many fans of action-suspense novels.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I enjoyed the way they brought up Sue's back story little by little throughout the book. I was fine with the story line until Sue got to prison. After that, it was too far fetched to appreciate. I was disappointed after that but happy when they gave it a solid conclusion.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The Fury is an action-packed, well-constructed thriller. Definitely read this is you like complicated story lines and constant intensity. But if you like complicated characters and a build-up of tension, then you, like me, might find the book a bit one-note. Gericke is excellent at weaving multiple complicated story lines and bringing them together to conclusion. My disappointment with the book lies with the flat characters. I prefer believable characters over pure action, and I'm afraid main character Superstition Davis is a bit shallow for me. Her beloved husband dies early in the book, but her grief is not believable. All of the characters run similarly thin. Again, great action and intertwining of stories. Three stars.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5If you like action, twists and turns, villains galore, you’ll like The Fury by Shane Gericke. Can a book have too much going on? That’s up to the reader, but there are numerous threads and sub stories to keep the reader on his/her toes. I thought Mr. Gericke did a good in presenting the main character, Detective Superstition “Sue” Davis and her journey to revenge her husband’s death. This is my first read of Shane Gericke and I plan to read his series, Emily Thompson, soon. Overall I thought the book was a good one and well worth a LibraryThing Early Review pick.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The Fury by Shane Gericke is a very good thriller. There are three story lines at the start of the book that all get tied together in the end with a very well told story. The heroine of the story is a Chicago vice cop by the name of Superstition Davis. Her husband is a Chicago cop who is killed along the Mexico border during a ride along with the Border Patrol about a possible job. The group that ambushes the Border Patrol is one of the most vicious drug cartels in Mexico. The story starts with a submarine recapping the Deep Water Horizon well that had begun leaking. During the recapping, several tanks from an old ship are freed from their containment and drift away.Sue Davis is working a vice sting as a hooker in Chicago. She lets a potential john go free. While she is in a bar taking a potty break, three men try robbing the bar. She kills all three during a fire fight in the bar saving a number of lives from the robbers who had started shooting when the bouncer pulled a gun trying to end the robbery. There is also a series of flashbacks to the Germany and Japan about nerve gas development in WWII.I don't want to tell how the stories are related, in that would spoil what is a very good plot. All of these story lines become intertwined during the story. The story is very well told. The author does a good job of character development so that you care about the good guys and hate the bad guys. You understand their motives for what they are doing and what led them to their current involvement in the story. It is a hard story to put down.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Shane has crafted a story that is a thrill ride beginning to end..An oil rig blows up, vx gas bombs end up im Mexico. Sue Davis husband gets killed on a border patrol ride along.Sue goes under cover to get the narco who killed her husband. At the same time she must stop this killer from killing millions with his new bomb. Can she succeed?I highly recomend this book to anyone who wants a good story.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Wow! What a ride this story is. If I had known before hand I was going to read a book that included, the Deepwater Horizon accident, drug mules, World War II (Hitler and all his bad henchmen) Nixon, Fast and the Furious (The Debacle not the movie) Chicago, Fargo (the movie and the city), New Mexico, Mexico and so many other places and times I would think that might be one heck of a mess. It's NOT. It's one heck of a story that enjoyed immensely. It's violent, it's messy, it's stark but it's an exciting read. Well done Mr. Gericke.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5An extremely entertaining action packed historical thriller dealing with the Mexican mafia drug cartel, their main operation is smuggling drugs across the Mexican-United States border, but they are also attempting too possess these nerve gas containers laced with anthrax. An undercover Chicago vice cop infiltrates this organization, using her knowledge to try too dismantle this operation within and getting her personal justification.
