The 3 books in this series are excellent! I enjoyed these stories greatly as they were inspiring! I found that Heidi’s recipes from her cooking classes are written by the author in a book of their own when I looked online for Amish recipes. Sweet!

I was so excited when I received a copy of this book in the mail. I have anxiously been waiting to continue Heidi and Lyle’s story. This series has brought many different people together and shared their secrets and left finding hope and new friends. The author doesn’t disappoint her readers with this charming story. I loved the concept of a cooking class for children. Heidi has such patience as she works with the children. Her calmness and compassion just oozes off the page. I can’t explain why, but as I read the book, I felt this peace come over me. Heidi and Lyle have been like family to me and I have enjoyed reading how they work together, pray together and dream together. I enjoyed the story about foster care. Will Heidi and Lyle’s prayers be answered so they can adopt the children they have been caring for?Heidi will have her hands full with this class. The children are different ages. Some have family problems, while others have single parents. I love the interaction the parents had with each other. I can say one young lady has a smart mouth and will find out quickly that she won’t make friends in the class with her stinky attitude. I fell in love with Velma the instant she was introduced. She is a proud woman who is willing to work around the house for Heidi so her daughter can attend the cooking classes. I loved how she is willing to do whatever she can to make her children feel accepted, loved and provided for. The story once again will have readers finding themselves invested in each character. I loved how the author showed how a community comes together to help their neighbors and how each child found a way to be happy in their life and appreciate what they have. This is my favorite book in the series. I learned how gracious the Amish are and appreciate the time Heidi took to show each child that they were capable of doing anything if they trust and believe.I received a copy of this book from the author and the publisher. The review is my own opinion.

The Celebration, An Amish Cooking Class by Wanda E. Brunstetter. It gets emotional but a good read. Heidi is Amish and teaching young children how to cook and bake. It is my second time to read it and one I won a few years ago. There are problems with the families of each of the children who have come to the class. Heidi and her husband, Lyle, have two foster children, a brother and a sister whose parents died in a car crash. Heidi is unable to have children but she and her husband want to adopt them. She has six classes and the reader can read and watch the children and parents grown and learn. After each class, the children take home the recipes that that have a BIble verse on each one. There are chickens also in the book that are part of learning or as the Amish call them, hinkel. The book is about God, prayers love, caring, friendship, family, death, heartbreaks, learning, and taking care of others. I gave it a 5 star rating. The opinions are my own.One recipe I want to make this week:"Surprise Muffins1 egg1 cup milk1/4 cup cooking oil2 cups flour1/4 cup sugar3 teaspoons baking powder1 teaspoon saltStrawberry or blueberry jamGrease bottom of 12 muffin cups or use paper baking cups. In medium bowl, beat egg with fork. Stir in milk and oil. Blend flour and other dry ingredients until mixture is moistened. Batter may be a bit lumpy. Do not overmix. Fill muffin cups half full of batter. Drop scant teaspoon of jam in center of batter in each muffin cup. Add more batter to fill cup so it's two-thirds full. Bake at 400* (F) for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Muffins will have gently rounded and pebbled tops. Loosen from pan immediately and remove with spatula. Serve warm or cold. Makes 12 muffins. Discovering the jelly inside the baked muffin is the surprise."Leona Olson

The Celebration is the third book in the Amish Cooking Class series. While it is part of a series, I don't think anyone would have trouble reading this as a stand alone book. There are only a few carry over characters from the other books and their parts are casual and not really needed to make the story line smooth. Heidi and Lyle Troyer have decided to take in foster children when they discover they may never be able to have children of their own. So now the story picks up from the second book a few months later with two young children whose parents were killed in an automobile accident. For the first six months, the state decided to wait and see if family will come forward to claim responsibility for the two children, Randy and Marsha. In the meantime, Heidi wanted to help her young charges adjust to their new life. She decides to teach another cooking class, but with children this time. A wide variety of families are represented in this class, and little by little we learn a bit of back history for each family. Many topics pertaining to children were covered in this book, such as showing kindness to others, teasing, a complaining attitude, adoption as a topic, the value of friendship, reaching out to help someone in dire circumstances, caring for pets and other animals, and so on. And of course, cooking. What I enjoy most about these books is the subtle ways Heidi is able to reach out and help total strangers in their struggles with daily life. Most of us want to make a difference in someone's life, but we often have no idea how to go about doing this. Ms. Brunstetter's books demonstrate through fiction good examples of how to touch lives. We don't have to make a major impact, but even an encouraging word can work wonders for a person on any particular day. The fact that this is a lesson even children can learn, is what makes this such a touching book to read. The author does a wonderful job of pulling the reader into the drama with the children and their prospective families. There were times when I felt the frustration Heidi must have felt when she couldn't do much to help a hurting child. At other times, I felt the aggravation when a child is deliberately rude and misbehaving, especially to the younger children. I could relate to the helpless feeling some of the parents felt in their circumstances, to the point where I shed a few tears when things went so wrong. Then again, there were also tears of celebration when finally something came together and worked out well, either for a family or for their children or both. If you enjoy a good Amish story, or a bit of family saga with a little romance, then I highly recommend this book to you. I am never disappointed with this authors books. This is the third book in this series and it was as good or better than the others. I loved Heidi and Lyle and how they decided to become foster parents. In this book we meet many new characters and even a few old characters. I could not put this book down. I loved how she decided to do a cooking class for children this time. The children and the adults learn some valuable lessons. I received a copy of this book from Barbour and the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

The Celebration is enjoyable. I like that you get to meet all the families and it rotational. It not with only one family and I like that. I like how Wanda does that with this book and series. I like Hedi Toyer and how we see how she has struggled. We alway see how she reaches out to other children and their parents along the way as she is trying to help her foster children adjust and get to know other children. We meet the Velma and her family. We also see the other families and meet them. Will they all heal over this Amish food and cooking class. Then gain they may form friendships they did not know will happen. The one thing I noticed that I wish was different was that it gave us more of the children point of view more. It was a cooking class for children. I was hoping that would let see the children point of view along with the parents point of view. The plot is done well. Wanda Brunstetter as done herself well with this book. I know this is the third book in the series. I want to read the other two hopefully soon. I would recommend any of Wanda’s books to read. This is good. This one is unique to me and have yet to see and Amish author do it the way she as.

We return with author Wanda E. Brunstetter and again visit Holmes County Ohio and our friends Lyle and Heidi Troyer, and we are again taking cooking classes, only this time they are geared to children.Wonderful life lessons again take place along with the cooking, and we get to meet a whole new set of folks, but a few of our past friends stop in for visits. We learn not to judge people, and hope we can carry what we learn over into our everyday life.We have some very spoiled children, some grieving parents and children, some marriages on the verge of collapse, and other problems that are met head on. Will everything work out in the end, and will the Troyers be able to finally have the family they have been craving.A wonderful conclusion to this trilogy, and you don’t want to miss the interactions, and hope that they will add God to their lives and let Him work with them.I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Barbour and was not required to give a positive review.

The Cooking Class is back! I'm so glad that Mrs. Brunstetter brought us back to the Troyers and Heidi's cooking class. This one was as addictive as the first two, and Mrs. Brunstetter's extremely captivating talent has shone once again! I loved seeing the Troyers and Marsha and Randy again. They are wonderfully chiseled characters and really come to life with each story. The other characters that Mrs. Brunstetter created for this one really stole a piece of my heart, too! Being married to my own firefighter, I loved seeing Darren Keller's character worked in there. It was definitely an added bonus to an already amazing novel. I loved the way Mrs. Brunstetter made this novel about the kids. It was such a refreshing change from the first two, though they were amazing, as well. The different familes that Mrs. Brunstetter created really made the story pop. Each family had a different circumstance, different struggles, and they all felt real to me. The inspiring ways that Heidi Troyer helps each family, really shines. This is definitely a 5 star worthy addition to a fantastically created 5 star series by the Queen of Amish Fiction. Mrs. Brunstetter adds yummy sounding recipes to the book, making this a tasty treat for all Amish fiction lovers everywhere. While this could easily be read as a stand alone, I don't recommend that you read it as one. Grab this one, along with the first two, and take a trip to the Troyer's farm, to the fun of cooking and baking, and to where God is foremost the center of the story! You won't be sorry! *I received a complimentary copy of this book from Publisher and was under no obligation to post a review, positive or negative.*
