This is a good book for those who are looking for a light murder mystery that is more serious than your average cozy murder mystery. I know you’re not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but after reading a silly, whimsical murder mystery; this one was in my recommended. Based on the cover and the fact it had a psychic, I thought it would be another whimsical murder mystery novel. It’s much more serious than I expected and not what I was looking for.

An odd mix, this book. A lady finds she has powers or maybe just feelings (yep, that vague) when something bad is about to happen. Then several characters are murdered, which seems to not be so awful in many of these books with cute covers and candy or cupcakes involved. Then the crime all the people were killed to cover was so stupid, I laughed. Not amused, just "I can't believe I listened to the whole book for this!" Murder isn't funny, it's the worst way to lose someone.
The reader's voice didn't help. Maybe she had a cold, it was very nasal, but she added tones to voices that changed the meaning or made a character seem different from the author's intent. Disappointing.

An enjoyable change of pace from the familiar pattern of cozy mysteries. Claire, her friends and sweet corgis are drawn into a mystery surrounding a shooting where Claire and her best friend are almost innocent victims. The first in the Claire Rollins series, I can't wait to read the next one!
