About this audiobook

What they’re doing to her client is a crime.

Attorney Dani Rollins is bullish in the courtroom—pushing judges and prosecutors to their limits in defense of the innocent. So when she meets Teddy Thorne, a mentally challenged teen accused of selling drugs, Dani knows she’s got this in the bag. She can easily settle the case with a couple of court appearances. But when prosecutors move for an adult felony conviction, Dani suspects Teddy’s being used as a pawn in a sinister game.

As the case moves forward, Dani is certain the judge and district attorney’s office have motivations beyond the crime—a fair trial isn’t in the cards. And when she takes on guardianship of Teddy, the case becomes personal as she fights her own demons and the government. Dani will stop at nothing to protect this innocent boy—there’s no other option. Because if she loses, both she and Teddy could lose far more than just the case…

Victor Methos

At the age of thirteen, when his best friend was interrogated by the police for over eight hours and confessed to a crime he didn’t commit, Victor Methos knew he would one day become a lawyer. After graduating from the University of Utah School of Law, Methos sharpened his teeth as a prosecutor for Salt Lake City before founding what would become the most successful criminal defense firm in Utah. In ten years Methos conducted more than one hundred trials. One particular case stuck with him, and it eventually became the basis for his first major bestseller, The Neon Lawyer. Since that time, Methos has focused his work on legal thrillers and mysteries, earning a Best Novel Edgar nomination for his title A Gambler’s Jury. He currently splits his time between Southern Utah and Las Vegas.

I agree with others, such a great writer. I love how unconventional Danny was even in the courtroom. I laughed often.

This story had great potential, but it was difficult for me to get through as an attorney because it was so completely unrealistic. Even if the unrealistic actions by the government attorneys and judge could have happened as described, even a fairly incompetent trial attorney would be more resourceful in overcoming them than Danny. There was such a lack of reality and even common sense in the trial proceedings that I nearly quit the book.

The main character is so likeable you’ll want to be her best friend-you’ll also want to be Teddy’s best friend ?As with all this author’s books the story was well written, highly entertaining and heartfelt. I highly recommend a listen! The narrator did a wonderful job!

I love listening to this book, it had laughter, suspense but most of all it flowed well. It kept my attention, I listened to it all day trying to guess who the culprit was; who took advantage of a special needs person. I throughly enjoyed it. I know that it could happen in our criminal and family system.
