About this audiobook
When the Bureau sends FBI profiler Atticus Spenser and forensic psychiatrist Dr. Caitlin Cassidy to Texas on behalf of Dutch Langhorne, the special agent-turned-suspect, they're suspicious of the very man whose interests they're supposed to protect. But with a psycho hitman on their heels and a trail of evidence leading up the food chain, it quickly becomes clear this is no ordinary case. The truth points to someone-or something-larger than Spenser and Cassidy ever thought possible. Solving this case is no longer a matter of clearing Dutch's name-it's a matter of national security.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Notorious by Carey Baldwin – A Cassidy and Spencer Novel- is a 2016 Witness Impulse publication. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I had a feeling this series was going to become a favorite of mine right from the beginning, and I was right, with this third segment being arguably the best one yet. When a colleague of Spencer’s, Dutch Langhorne, finds his wife shot dead, in a hotel room, he becomes suspect number one. So, while this case is not an official one for Cassidy and Spencer they once more postpone their vacation plans to help solve the murder. This story is just a little more complicated than the first two, with some heavier emotional issues weighing on the couple, which has a huge impact on this case. This case is an honest to goodness whodunit, with political implications that could reach as far as the white house. There are several jaw dropping twists in this story, lots of shocking revelations about Spencer’s past, and Cassidy ends up in the middle, torn with indecision, knowing she must protect Spencer, but she could lose him in the process. Two things about this story that stand out for me, is that this one seemed a little more action packed, and it’s a little steamier than the first two books. Both of these developments signals character development and strength in the plotline, which can now reach a whole new audience. Those who enjoy romantic suspense, psychological thrillers, action thrillers, as well as those who just enjoy a good old fashioned mystery can all enjoy this book, because I believe it has that wide of an appeal. It is not absolutely necessary to read these in order, but if this is your first book in the series, you will pick up on references that elude to prior installments and so to understand and enjoy this story more, I suggest reading the first book in the series at the very least before tackling this one. I still have my little crush on Spence, but am so happy to see him and Cassidy moving forward, even if they do hit a few bumps in the road from time to time. They make a perfect couple all the way around, complimenting each other professionally and personally. This series still has lots of avenues to explore, with each case becoming more challenging and taking on new qualities, which will keep it fresh for a long time to come. Overall, this is a fantastic addition to the series!!
