      A lot of chapters end mid sentence, probably an audio issue. The book itself isn't that great either, the characters are whinny and overly dramatic not much as redeeming qualities go

      This book is very punny throughout and I find it funny. I also like all the pop culture references.

      This is a typical story of girls in high school and their crushes but they include vampires.There is a romance that builds during the story with Rainy and Magnus.

      I enjoyed the story! Also, the epilogue of the book was very interesting…

      It's a light but enjoyable story!
      I particularly liked the various cross-references to Buffy ("Bertha the Vampire Slayer" LOL) and other famous movies but, most of all, I found entertaining the business-like attitude the vampire's society assumed in order to promote and protect their lifestyles.

      Boys That Bite by Mari MancusiParanormal YA romance. 1st in the Blood Coven Vampire series. Definitely written for the younger crowd with plenty of current day references. Included teen angst and teen values as well as teen crushes and love.Emphasis on innocence and the introduction to the darker world.Light and easy read. The only discordant note for me was the attitude of Sunny towards the slayer. Her issue wasn’t so much the danger but rather the weight and appearance of the slayer. Intolerable fat shaming. First in a series. Epilogue makes it a cliffhanger.

      From the very first page, this book is pure enjoyment in the form of words! This is the type of book that doesn't try to take itself too seriously, and no I don't mean that it isn't written well. What I mean is that the blindingly obvious pun will jump off the page at you and all you can do is crack up laughing. Any book that makes references to Buffy, Angel and the whole Whedon crew automatically wins points with me! I don't want to ruin it by referencing it exactly, but let's just say that there is a Buffy reference in here that had me rolling with laughter! The jokes, the acerbic wit, all of it just made me fall completely in love with this book.

      Now on to the characters. Those of you who read my reviews often know that I have to love my characters. If I'm to enjoy a book, they need to be interesting and fun! Enter Sunny and Rayne, the identical twins. They may be identical in appearance, but in personality they are total opposites. Sunny is the sporty, school-driven twin who is trying to get on the radar of the resident "Sex God". Rayne, on the other hand, is a goth at heart who has an affinity for the vampire kind. It was this yin and yang between them that allowed me to connect with both of them equally. They completed one another in the best way possible. There was such fantastic chemistry between them, and the witty banter was amazing!

      Remember how I said that this book doesn't take itself too seriously? Well that means that you, my dear readers, shouldn't go into it without the proper mindset. Let me explain. Sunny is a teenager. Sunny does not want to be a vampire, especially not right before prom. Sunny deals with this issue like any typical teen would, with massive amounts of snide remarks and observations. So yes, it's true, sometimes Sunny can be a little obnoxious in the way she speaks and acts. However, keep in mind my friends, this is a satirical type of book. Think Buffy! It's meant to be taken with a grain of salt and big heaping helping of humor!

      Can I be honest? I loved this book. Every single minute of it. Sure, there were times when I thought the "teen speak" might have seemed a little heavy, but I've read books (that I won't mention the name of) where this issue completely turned me off of reading the book and the rest of the series. Sunny's way of thinking and talking didn't take away from my enjoyment of the story at all. This is coming from vampire novel skeptic of the highest caliber. Trust me, it means a lot. Don't go into Boys That Bite expecting anything less than a fun and light read! If you're not smiling at least a little at the end of this book, you're either a robot or an alien. Both of which, I might add, are not nearly as cool as a vampire.

      Sunny McDonald couldn't be more different than her identical twin Rayne. Sunny plays field hockey, is the understudy for the star of their high school musical, and has an unrequited crush on high school hottie Jake Wilder. Rayne is Goth and very interested in vampires. She even blogs about them.One evening Rayne convinces Sunny to go with her to Club Fang for some vampire fun. Once there Sunny is hit on by another real hottie. Magnus picks her out of the crowd and takes her outside. Sunny thinks there will be a little kissing. She isn't expecting to be turned into a vampire!Magnus has mistaken her for her twin and accidentally turned her into a vampire. She hasn't studied or filled out the forms or done anything that would qualify her to become a vampire. She doesn't want to be a vampire. When she finds out that there is a cure, she wants it even if it means traveling to England with Magnus and finding the Holy Grail.While she and Magnus are together, Sunny begins to question whether or not she wants to become human again or spend an eternity with Magnus. This was a fun story with a pitch-perfect teenage voice. The story was written in 2006 and some of the cultural references might seem a little dated to today's readers. But the story of a young woman torn between two very different futures will resonate with today's readers quite well.And that cliffhanger ending...

      Wow! I was not expecting such a good book...
      Boys that Bite is about Sunny and Rayne, twins that are complete opposites. One night, Rayne convinces Sunny to go to Club Fang and Sunny gets bit by Magnus, a vampire, and will turn into a full vampire by the end of the week. Something that should have happened to Rayne, who has been training for months to become a vampire. Now, Magnus and Sunny go on a hunt for the special relic that will turn Sunny back to human. Along the way, Magnus and Sunny start to fall for each other.
      I loved this book! I finished in about a day and a half (which is pretty fast for me). I liked that Sunny had her twin sister to rely on, instead of keeping it all to herself. But the language was a bit too...ah, immature, for my tastes. But still a great read.
      I will definitely read the next book.

      Boys that Bite- By Mari MancussiBoys that Bite was a great book. I really liked it, more than I thought I would. It made me laugh a lot.The story was different from most vampire ones, so it wasn't anything I expected. The Plot itself was not overdone, in fact it was pretty clever, fresh, and bunches of fun. The book was very funny, lots of sarcasm, puns, and funnies. The pacing was great, never slowed down, and it was a very fast read.The characters were great, they had a lot of personality and weren't flat at all. Each character had a very vivid and strong personality that was individual from the rest of the cast. They all blended well together for a great gang of heroes and heroines.I really like the title of the book and think it fits well with the story but I think the cover could have been better, but it's just because it's not how I pictured the characters at all. I never once got bored in this book, and I would tell my friends to read it.I will definitely finish the series.I would give this book a 4/5 stars.

      This is one of those YA books that does not easily cross over into an older age bracket. I think if I had been 14, I may have really liked this book. As it is, I couldn't help but think that the characters were too shallow, the logic just wasn't, the girls were much too easily led by the so-cute boys, and I could see it coming from a mile away.

      My thoughts...I am a sucker for YA vampire novels and this one was no exception. This book's original story plot contained a case of mistaken identity. As the story progressed with the characters searching for a cure to the vampirism virus, I found myself drawn into the story until the end. It did not end the way I expected either. The book traveled to several locations and I felt Mari did a great job of describing the settings. Some of the scenes were witty and I enjoyed the banter between the main characters. Sunny and Rayne are identical twins, so their bond is closer than regular sisters might be. They did not argue as much as I expected, especially given the situation. I really liked Sunny and I hope we learn more about Rayne as the series progresses, she sounds very interesting. As for Magnus, he grew on me. Initially I did not like him or his character. I expected the girls to be irrational and immature, but he was supposed to be knight from ancient times. His character showed change as the book progressed, which led me to believe he was putting up a front to protect himself. The book ended with a surprising ending and a twist which makes me want to jump right into the second book Stake That. The cons...I stumbled a bit through the beginning of the book mainly because of the character's reactions, particularly Sunny. She just seemed so unfazed by the whole accidental turning incident. But, her character, like Magnus, showed a lot of growth as the book progressed. Overall I enjoyed this book and I can't wait to continue the series. It is a great read for fans of YA vampire literature.

      What I liked....I enjoyed that it was a simple, easy read, that quickly got your attention. It's a page turner and will leave readers wanting more by the end of the book. Mari Mancusi brings out the old vampire myths in a new way, that will definitely have you laughing. The humor kind of reminded me of the, Vampire Kisses Series by Ellen Schreiber. I also enjoyed that Sunny was a type of character who really resisted becoming a vampire, even if she was a bit closed-minded, which put a spin on most YA vampire genre books. Also the vampire was the type of character who wasn't like: "Don't become a vampire! Live your human life!!" Instead he was a bit self-centered and lonely and wanted Sunny to become a vampire. I would think, if I were a vampire, that after living a million-bajillion years that you be a bit self-centered and greedy. Are the characters relatable? To me, not really. But can you imagine them and understand them? Of course. The authors makes a simple plot into a 272 page book, that's interesting, fast paste, and you don't have to really think a lot while reading it. It's not complex, which is nice. So I definetly recommend this to anyone, even if you hate the vampire-genre.What I didn't like..... I found the main protagonist, Sunny, thoughts to be really annoying at times. I don't like to label people/characters, but I found Sunny to be way to preppy. Also in the book the word: "vampire" was brought up like every page. I undersand that she doesn't want to become a vampire, but do we really need to hear about it every second? Though these two things that I disliked are rather my compliants then stuff that would be wrong with the book. But also, it would make sense for the main character to be thinking about it a lot because if I were in this situation I'd probably do the same thing. But I just wished, the word: "vampire", was toned down a bit.Also, at the end of the bok you get to see Rayne's POV. Basically she narriates the ending, and I found from her thoughts that she's identically like Sunny. Like I understand that they're twins, but for moments on end I felt like I was listening to Sunny not Rayne. Was that suppose to be that way? I don't know. When Rayne talks, she sounds different from Sunny.In All... it was a great book that anyone would love to read and I definetly recommend the book. I didn't really find anything wrong with book, just one person compliants. Anyways till next time,

      Boys That Bite was a refreshing take on vampires! It varied from so many books that have vampires cut from the same exact stone. For example, in Boys That Bite, the vampires actually had to sleep. (Though the romance aspect is still there)Boys That Bite was well written with well-rounded characters. It was smart and had comical moments. The plot took its twists and turns, I was convinced I had different parts completely figured out, but then something completely different would end up happening.The ending sets the stage for the next book, Stake That, which I cannot wait to read!

      Amazing story that we all know is fiction but written in the style that it could be true. As a teenager this shows that true love can come true even if people say it won't work out. This story keeps you on the edge of your seat to she if sunny can become human agian before prom.Danni W.

      Another vampire book. Good concept. But unfortunately, I don't think that it was carried out nice enough to work. There are also parts of the story that just makes no sense, or it seems that the author just took the easy way out. It was predictable and threw too much pop culture references in. It's not a bad read... but I wouldn't exactly recommend it as a must-read.

      A teen told me I should read this book if I liked Twilight. Boys that Bite was funny; I mostly liked the conversational tone and can see why it would be popular! A cross between Sweet Valley Twins (they can fool their mom, they're so identical) and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Light, fun fare.

      Mistaken for her goth twin sister, Sunny is bitten by a vampire. The bad news: she craves blood, cant stand sunlight and her mom thinks she’s on drugs, so she’s grounded. The good news: her condition is reversible, but she’ll have to act quick and find the Holy Grail before it’s too late. This book has all the spunk and sarcasm its drama queen protagonist can give it, which makes up for the lite blood and fang factor.

      this book grabs your attention the moment you pick it up and holds on hours after you've finished it. You instantly get attached to Sunny and have a actuzl concern for what might happen. This book has every thing beautiful teenage girl ,Sunny, her gothic twin Rain, a hippy mom, thousand year old Orlando bloom look a like Vampires, fat vamp slayers in leather, comidy, conflict, love.

      Sometimes being an identical twin really blows. For example, when your twin has decided to become a vampire, without telling you thank you very much, and her assigned Blood Mate, mistakes you for her. So now you have one week to reverse the process or you become a vampire, like forever. This is a fun fast read. There is a sort of reversal on the vampire slayer thing that is fun. The whole process for becoming a vampire, you have to take classes, is a hoot. The romance is sweet.

      This book was amazingly fun. I'd seen it around online before, but never really cared to pick it up. I'm not that into vampires any more. And sure enough, this book had a lot of things that I dislike about vamp books (mainly the angst factor), but I absolutely loved the heroine. And can I just say, best end-of-book hook I've read in a long time.

I liked how everything turned out in the end because it was nice NOT to be able to guess exactly what Sunshine would do about her problem. I can definately see fans of the Vampire Kisses books liking Boys that Bite a lot.
