About this audiobook
Over 12,000 helicopters were used in the Vietnam War, which is why it became known as "The Helicopter War." Almost half of the helicopters, 5,086, were lost. Helicopter pilots and crews accounted for nearly ten percent of all the U.S. casualties suffered in Vietnam, with nearly 5,000 killed and an untold number of wounded. Lew Jennings flew over 700 Air Cavalry Cobra Gunship Helicopter missions and received three Distinguished Flying Crosses for Valor.
This memoir describes first-hand the harrowing experiences of helicopter pilots and crews in combat operations, from the far South to the DMZ, including the infamous Ashau Valley, Hamburger Hill, LZ Airborne, and others.
19 Minutes to Live illustrates the incredible courage and determination of helicopter pilots and crews supporting those heroes that carried a rucksack and a rifle in Vietnam.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Thoroughly enjoyed this biographical account of helicopter warfare during the Viet Nam war. Knew of a fellow fixed wing pilot who flew two tours in Hueys and Loaches. Sadly, he died in a crash as he made an instrument approach into Cadillac, Michigan one rainy November evening in 1984. Your story explained much that my friend experienced during his tours in Viet Nam. Thank you.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I was growing up in the Vietnam War Era. My Dad was in the PAF and often played an FAC role, driving around in that dedicated Jeep loaded with a ton of radio equipment. Naturally I grew up around planes and helicopters. Listening to this book was in so many instances like listening to my father narrate his experiences. Oh, my Dad was also a pilot.
