About this audiobook

Lily Ivory and her friends are planning a 1950s-themed brunch to benefit the local women's shelter. When a figure from her past shows up unannounced, threatening her unless she returns something that belonged to him, Lily's fiance, Sailor, steps in to defend her. After the same man is found dead later that day, Sailor is the primary suspect. He swears he's innocent, but multiple witnesses ID him as the perpetrator of the assault. Lily vows to clear his name . . . only she's not sure where to start with the mounting evidence against him.

When she sees Sailor in the neighborhood despite knowing he's in jail, Lily starts to wonder if there could be a doppelganger in San Francisco. When she's not busy helping customers find matching outfits for the upcoming event, searching for a vintage wedding dress for her own nuptials, and dealing with an ill-timed magical cold, Lily begins to suspect one of her magical foes is targeting her loved ones in an attempt to weaken her.

In A Magical Match, Lily is preparing for her wedding to Sailor and helping organize a charity event when someone from her past appears unexpectedly. he demands something be returned that she stole from him, but Lily has no memory of that time. Before he can cause more trouble, he is killed and Sailor is arrested. Lily’s powers have been in a slump, too, making life more difficult for her. What is going on and who can she trust? I enjoyed this story and it is a great continuation of this fun series.

I debated between 3.5 and 4 stars; there's the whole boyfriend-in-peril trope being used, and the mom angst, but both ended up being sort of minimal to the story, and the idea of a doppelgänger was just too interesting. Bonus points for possibly the weirdest use of silverfish ever. The plot was less focused than Blackwell's usual fare, but it was still an enjoyable few hours and that's pretty much the sum total of my expectations for cozies. A fiendishly good murder plot is a bonus, and this one lacked that, but great characters make up for a lot.

Fun. There is almost too much happening in Lily's life. A wedding to plan, Sailor is in jail, someone is sabotaging her... And no one can just give a straight answer.

Lily Ivory, owner of Aunt Cora's Closet Vintage Clothing & witch is about to get married to Sailor... but first she must discover who took on Sailor's physical appearance & killed Tristan Dupree, a man from her past who at one time was her father's protege & evil cohort, plan a neighborhood fund raiser for the local woman's shelter, and figure out how she is bound to a magical prophecy of great proportions as the communities of power align for or against in good vs. evil. Helping Lily to clear Sailor is his Romany cousin & thorn in Lily's side, Patience, and Aiden one of the main practitioners in San Francisco. In addition, Lily's grandmother, grandmother's coven, & mother are on their way for the wedding all with intent of their own. That being said: Although I really enjoy paranormal & magical realism, genre books.... What I Do Not enjoy is when an author has a long-term character, who has powerful gifts and remains a dummy-head.... I guess there are people like that, who just half-arse their gifts, but I then want to know why would that be? These type of books contain mystery, murder, power, & romance, and the characters continually are involved in the first two, which would mean that their gifts only grow stronger (which they do), but the characters seem to get dumber & dumber as their power increases... So that confuses me.There are several flaws in this book and several loose ends, which also bothered me. The fact that the main character, still questions herself & her knowing is annoying, as well as the fact that when she has to chastise her protege & her familiar, she feels guilty and back-pedals. So I'm thinking that this will be the end of the series for me.

What a fun paranormal cozy mystery Juliet Blackwell has created a loveable cast of characters that I fell for. This is my first Magical Mystery in the 9 books she has written in the series. I will now have to go back and read the rest, I dare you not to read this book. It’s just a witchy delight.
