About this audiobook
At twenty-seven, magician Natalie Webb is already a has-been. A card-trick prodigy, she started touring at seventeen, took first place at the World of Magic competition at eighteen, and never reached such heights again. Shunned by the magic world after a disastrous liaison with an older magician, she now lives alone with her pigeons and a pile of overdue bills in a New Jersey apartment. In a desperate ploy to make extra cash, she follows up on an old offer to write a feature magazine article?on the art of cheating at cards. But when she meets the perfect subject for her article, what begins as a journalistic gamble brings into question everything Natalie thinks she knows about her talent, and herself. Natalie is dazzled by the poker cheat's sleight of hand and soon finds herself facing a proposition that could radically alter her fortune?to help pull off a $1.5 million magic trick that, if done successfully, no one will ever even suspect happened. With Kardos raising the stakes chapter after chapter, Bluff is a breathtaking work of suspense from a writer at the top of his game.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Really good! Bluffers bluffing the bluffers! Fast paced and somewhat of an unusual story. I liked the fact that the protagonist was a woman who who is able to move around easily in a world made up predominantly of men. The main character is an intelligent and complex woman with a well developed character. She excels in the World of Magic, but nonetheless has real life problems (ie, money, loneliness, friends or lack thereof, etc.).
Towards the end, as things begin to get dicey, it becomes VERY suspenseful and the events that unfold will have you cringing and squirming in your seat!!
Julia Whalen does a fine job in narrating the story. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I am not sure where I first heard about this book but it does not seem to br that well known of a book which is a shame because it is truly an outstanding piece of fiction. The book centers around a female magician who tries to profile a cardsharp for a magazine story. The novel has many plot twists and seems tailor made to be adapted into a movie. The author also has an excellent ability to integrate history into the book in a way that adds to the narrative and does not seem overbearing. As a whole I found it to be a riveting read with great characters and realistic dialog.
