About this audiobook

A New York Times bestseller

From the author of the New York Times bestselling Love & Gelato comes a heartwarming tale of a road trip through Ireland filled with love, adventure, and the true meaning behind the word family.

Addie is visiting Ireland for her aunt’s over-the-top destination wedding and hoping she can stop thinking about the one thing she did that left her miserable and heartbroken—and threatens her future. But her brother, Ian, isn’t about to let her forget, and his constant needling leads to arguments and even a fistfight between the two once inseparable siblings. Miserable, Addie can’t wait to visit her friend in Italy and leave her brother—and her problems—behind.

So when Addie discovers an unusual guidebook, Ireland for the Heartbroken, hidden in the dusty shelves of the hotel library, she’s able to finally escape her anxious mind and Ian’s criticism.

And then their travel plans change. Suddenly Addie finds herself on a whirlwind tour of the Emerald Isle, trapped in the world’s smallest vehicle with Ian and his admittedly cute, Irish-accented friend Rowan. As the trio journeys over breathtaking green hills, past countless castles, and through a number of fairy-tale forests, Addie hopes her guidebook will heal not only her broken heart, but also her shattered relationship with her brother.

That is if they don’t get completely lost along the way.

This book was really cute. I would have loved another chapter at the end just to tie things up better. I also feel like the bff time wasnt enough at all. I am expecting third book :)

The entire first half of this one felt really drawn out, and I wasn’t a huge fan of the switching timelines. It felt jarring in some cases because the tense didn’t change—we were just suddenly talking about the past and then jumping back to the present. However, once the truths started coming out and the picture about *what happened* grew clearer, I really enjoyed the development of the story. I loved hearing about the places in Ireland they visited, and the Guidebook excerpts were a cute touch. Overall, I enjoyed this even though it didn’t have quite the level of charm I felt with Love & Gelato. But I’m eager to read the next one from Welch when it releases!

It was nice but not that exceptional of a book, I didn't enjoy it as much as I enjoyed loved and gelato, what I loved most about this book were the irland for the heartbroken experts. They were really meaningful.

A really good summer read. ☀️
If you're looking for a little found family feels, and a tad family/sibling disagreement... then this trip, off the beaten path and back on, through Ireland is just the ticket. I also recommend book 1, Love & Gelato.

Such disappointment. I am giving it one star for Ireland (which I really want to explore, the setting didn’t make much difference to the book however and I was sorely missing an irish accent from the narrator) and one star because it had some ideas that were half decent even if the author didn’t know what to do with them.
The main character is so insufferable that I rolled my eyes and gritted my teeth through this whole damn book. She is entitled and selfish.
The writing style on top is just awful. It is clear from the line in the book: “He looked at him with a smirk that was the equivalent of a fist bump”. I mean... sigh...

Read this!! It’s amazing. It made me cry and laugh. It’s more about family than romance. And the setting is amazing. Read this!!!

This book was amazing but I actually hated how impatient it made me. So good. Captivating. Clean and heartfelt. Just had to be so patient while reading it. Took to the very end for the beginning to make sense. I guess that’s a good thing but it kept annoying me as I was listening

Cute story. I like how it focused more on the main character’s relationship with her brother, but maybe could have had more romance in it, since it does say Love in the title. It did give me a hankering to go visit Ireland, though!

I laughed out loud several times while listening to this. As well as tearing up for Abbie with what she went through. These books have a way of being funny and heartfelt at the same time. I cannot wait to read the third book in this series!

I am already loving the series. I really liked the first book and so do I like this one too. The best part about this book series is how they explain the friendship ,the family ,the love and everything in details and feels like a cozy read. It's quite a fast read so if you love reading these kind of of romantic yet,Interesting stories, dob read this book Series .can't wait for the next one .

The beginning was a little hard to get into, only because it was a little slow and the excerpts of the Ireland heartbreak travel guide were a little jarring at first. We're dropped right in the middle of an argument between siblings, which was hard to get into because we don't know why they're arguing. But once we get into the story and the traveling around Ireland, it gets good. I liked that the romance of the story was more of an undercurrent while Addie tried to mend herself and her relationship with her brother after what happened back at home. I definitely would recommend this book if you're look for a sweet, heartfelt read.

Likable enough characters, I just wanted there to be more to the story. This opens with Addie and her brother Ian fighting at her Aunt’s wedding in Ireland, but it’s a long wait and a lot of build up before you find out why they fought. While Addie definitely had reason to be upset over what happened, I didn’t feel like Ian’s anger towards Addie made much sense. Ultimately, I think the book probably would have been better served had the reason for the fight been known to the reader from the start, had we gotten to see Addie dealing with/processing the fallout of Cubby’s actions over the course of the book it may have given the story a bit more depth, instead, it seemed like she’d go through more after the book ended than she did during it. I generally love a road trip story, however, this road trip was really more important for Ian than it was for the actual main character, Addie. She does use a travel guidebook that’s supposed to help mend a broken heart by stopping at specific places and performing certain rituals, but I wasn’t even really convinced she would feel heartbroken in the traditional sense. The flashbacks to her romance made it mostly seem superficial and given the situation, the end of that relationship didn’t seem like something to pine for or be sad over, it seemed more like Addie should have been angry at the guy and she might be a little angry at herself, too. She probably should have been the character in the sullen, surly mood rather than Ian (who was actively pursuing his dream and again, he was mad at anyone, why?).Maybe had Addie been as angry as she had every right to be (done with sarcastic humor, it could still be as light and fluffy as the tone of this book requires), the Cubby situation could have saddled Addie with trust issues that could have added a bit more fire and will/they won’t they to her interactions with Rowan (especially if if his baggage from his parents played more of a factor for him, too). It might have made their relationship more interesting if for every step forward Addie took getting to know Rowan she took two steps back thanks to having been burned by the last guy she let in. I mean, it was nice, the ease and warmth Addie and Rowan shared almost immediately, but it didn’t make for much of a relationship/personal arc whereas if Addie had been in the process of learning to trust again, maybe it would have felt like Addie, the lead character, had been on as much, if not more of a journey as say, her brother, Ian, who was a secondary character. So mostly my issues with this one were plot-related, thinking there could have been more, it could have dug in deeper, but I do like the author’s writing style as far as setting the scene, that she gives you a sense of place without going overboard with descriptions as some books that involve travel can get bogged down by the research. I also really appreciated that Addie’s mechanical, that she knows her stuff when it comes to cars, that made her a somewhat unique heroine, and I enjoyed the family moments, too, (even if Ian’s attitude mystified me at times).

This is the companion novel to Love and Gelato. It’s not necessary to have read the first book before this novel. The main character has a very small role to play in this novel and gives no surprises away.Addie has had a really bad summer; the novel begins with her and her brother tumbling down a mountain at the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland, much like Wesley and Buttercup in Princess Bride (let me insert here--if you haven’t seen the iconic movie Princess Bride, you are in for a treat. Stream it ASAP!). Addie has three brothers, so she is not a delicate flower of a girl. She is capable of holding her own. Ian is her closest brother; for some reason they are NOT getting along even though they’ve always been close. Ian insists that Addie tell their mother, but we don’t know what she’s supposed to reveal. They are supposed to go to Italy and meet up with Addie’s best friend Lina (from Love and Gelato). Mom informs them that they have to get along or dire consequences will ensue. The rest of the family are staying in Ireland with their mom as their Aunt Mel films her wedding week for TV.The day arrives to leave and Addie awakes to find Ian gone. She runs after him, tackling him in front of Rowan. Rowan is Ian’s friend that no one knows about. They explain what Ian truly wants to do--stay in Ireland with Rowan to complete a journey that will impact Ian’s future and let Addie go to Italy alone, just don’t tell Mom or their brothers. The brothers cannot keep a secret! Due to unfortunate events, Addie ends up missing her flight and spends the week joining Rowan and Ian on their journey. Addie discovers a book, Ireland for the Heartbroken, in their original hotel. She takes this guide with her and she and Rowan do the homework suggested in the guide in order to each get over their broken hearts. Without Addie, the epic trip could be in danger. Addie may not be good at school, but cars make sense to her. Rowan’s car can’t get far without Addie!I love travel novels; I love that people can get away from their lives through a different culture in order to breath, find balance, and find themselves. I love reading about other cultures. I also love Ireland. It’s my favorite country and my favorite vacation, so I’m pretty partial to it. This is a novel about the journey to believing in yourself again and not letting others determine how you feel about yourself; you can get over the hurt that people inflict on you, but it’s a process. This is not a novel about romance although there is a hint of it!
