About this audiobook
Academy Award–winning actress, producer, and entrepreneur Reese Witherspoon invites you into her world, where she infuses the southern style, parties, and traditions she loves with contemporary flair and charm.
Reese Witherspoon’s grandmother Dorothea always said that a combination of beauty and strength made southern women “whiskey in a teacup.” We may be delicate and ornamental on the outside, she said, but inside we’re strong and fiery.
Reese’s southern heritage informs her whole life, and she loves sharing the joys of southern living with practically everyone she meets. She takes the South wherever she goes with bluegrass, big holiday parties, and plenty of Dorothea’s fried chicken. It’s reflected in how she entertains, decorates her home, and makes holidays special for her kids—not to mention how she talks, dances, and does her hair (in these pages, you will learn Reese’s fail-proof, only slightly insane hot-roller technique). Reese loves sharing Dorothea’s most delicious recipes as well as her favorite southern traditions, from midnight barn parties to backyard bridal showers, magical Christmas mornings to rollicking honky-tonks.
It’s easy to bring a little bit of Reese’s world into your home, no matter where you live. After all, there’s a southern side to every place in the world, right?

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was such a great book! I have loved her acting and full heart for so many years. This book gives a wonderful glimpse into her amazing life as a child growing up in the South. I’m not from the South, but her warm stories and silly expressions make me feel like an honorary member. My only complaint is she refers to several PDF’s to view for those listening to the audiobook. For some reason, Scribd does not make those available. I would have loved to try some of her recipes. Otherwise, this book was wonderful!

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I love just how down to earth Reese seems just from listening to this book! She’s so right too, if we ever met, we’d probably become best friends! I just wish I could move down south & raise my boys down there. A lot of the Southern Manners seem to have been lost along the way up to the Northern States even though I try to instill those manners into my children, it’s just not the same. Maybe one day!

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5While reading this book, it was easy to believe that Reese partakes in the traditions she talks about to this day. I have never listened to or read a book by a celebrity where their personality shone through as much as Reese’s did with this book! It was a joy to listen to! Her love for the South makes me want to visit because it sounds amazing!

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Very cute and easy listen. Her south and mine aren't the same LOL but we do have some similarities. Really enjoyed this.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5So sweet and charming! I loved hearing Reese Witherspoon's voice as she recounted stories of her upbringing! Do checkout the recipes she mentions all throughout - there are many that I can't wait to try.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I have to admit maybe this book was not for me, but a high praise for the original author’s reading this book… it felt amazing but it wasnt for me
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5This was not meant to be an audiobook! Probably the printed version could be a great coffee table book. I really admire Reese Witherspoon, and the everything she has achieve in Hollywood, but this is not a biography, is rather a political correct guide on how to be a well-educated woman from the south, with many common places and very superfluous topics, such as “how to set a table”, “how to do a playlist for a reunion”. I really hope we get the chance to have a real autobiography from her!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Super cute! Made me want to cook and have friends over
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5What an adorable book! Reese is gorgeous, funny and so down to earth and it all comes through in this book. Her love for family, friends, traditions and community are so refreshing.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Really sweet, heartwarming, humbling, and inspiring. This book really brings you back home and it a perfect example of strength in beauty. Such an enjoyable read (or listen) for all.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Fun and enjoyable. A picture of Southern flare. Take a peek inside of southern tradition.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5amazing history, thanks for sharing and giving me a glimpse of southern traditions! loved it!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Oh the feels!! Country roads, take me home. Nashville raised & approved ❤️
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5While entertaining, I just feel the book completely unrelatable, at times she reminded me of Elle Woods from Legally Blond. Clueless and written from a place of privilege at best…
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I really enjoyed this book! I can’t believe it’s over! I can relate to Reese! However I’m from the way north so we have quirks and get made fun of for our northern drawl!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great book. Reese has such an adorable voice and made the audio book enjoyable to listen to.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Such a great book! I can’t wait for another! Thanks
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Sad I wasn’t able to see the PDF’s and pictures
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I found this book disappointing. I guess its ok to have a frilly book about dinner parties and decor but I guess it just felt shallow and unimportant to me. I was hoping for a book that was more impactful. Not my cup of tea ?.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A cute glimpse into Southern atmosphere. I enjoyed that the book was narrated by Reese herself. But I would have appreciated more hints on the history of the South, to understand the origin of all these traditions. Missing as well is a reflection and aknowledgment of racial segregation and her personal experience dealing with different skin colors in the South.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great book! Really enjoyed it. So glad Reese read it.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Short but sweet would have loved to hear more from Reese but was definitely a homage to her southern roots.
