About this audiobook

Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman reveal the full story behind their epic romance—presented in a series of intimate conversations between the couple.

The year: 2000. The setting: Los Angeles. A gorgeous virtuoso of an actress agreed to star in a random play, and a basement-dwelling scenic carpenter said he would assay a supporting role in the selfsame pageant. At the first rehearsal she surveyed her fellow cast members, determining if any of the men might qualify to provide her with a satisfying fling. Her gaze fell upon the carpenter, and like a bolt of lightning the thought struck her: no dice. Moving on.

Yet, unbeknownst to our protagonists, Cupid had merely set down his bow and picked up a rocket launcher . . . that fired a love rocket (not a euphemism). The players were Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman, and the resulting romance, once ignited, was . . . epic. Beyond epic. It resulted in a coupling that has endured to this day; a sizzling, perpetual tryst that has captivated the world with its kindness, athleticism, astonishingly low-brow humor, and true (fire emoji) passion.

How did they do it? They came from completely different families, ignored a significant age difference, and were separated by the gulf of several social strata. Megan loved books and art history; Nick loved hammers. But much more than these seemingly unsurpassable obstacles were the values they held in common: respect, decency, the ability to mention genitalia in almost any context, and an abiding obsession with the songs of Tom Waits.

Eighteen years later, they're still very much in love and have finally decided to reveal the philosophical mountains they have conquered, the lessons they've learned, and the myriad jigsaw puzzles they've completed. Presented as an oral history in a series of conversations between the couple, the book features anecdotes, hijinks, photos, and a veritable grab bag of tomfoolery. This is not only the intoxicating book that Mullally's and Offerman's fans have been waiting for, it might just hold the solution to the greatest threat facing our modern world: the single life.

This was a fun listening experience.

I listened to the audiobook read by them and hearing them both interact was an extra treat.

I love how their relationship is real. They have been together for 18 years and are normal people that enjoy listening to audiobooks while putting together jigsaw puzzles...and occasionally leave their houses as long as they are getting paid to do so.

This was funny and absolutely worthwhile. I especially enjoyed the "secret bonus chapter" included for the audiobook only as well as the background and behind the scenes aspects of their lives and how they wound up together.

    I would recommend. :)

What fun! I love hearing stories about how people got together and even more so how they stay together. I learned a lot about these two and a lot of how to keep a relationship going strong. I am glad I did the audiobook and not the written version. So much better.

Funny, feel-good and even inspiring at times. I can’t decide if I should start build my first piece of furniture or win an Emmy, but rest assured, this book will leave you comforted, entertained and if (like me) you’re listening at your desk, you will probably snort with laughter every so often and your coworkers will all turn around and look at you like you’re a nut. Enjoy!

a fun read but not life changing, obviously. still if you enjoy the authors on screen, this book's well worth a listen.

A fun audio romp with the talented couple, Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman. Both talented entertainers apart and together. The audiobook gives us a glimpse of actors' lives; not always glamorous or "normal" for a stable family situation. Both of them, late bloomers to fame, which is not a bad thing. There were several laugh out loud moments for me and the interaction between them is what holds the public's fascination. I think we all like to see romance and happy marriages happen for people in middle-age, or any age maybe, but this couple are so down to earth, self-described 'introverts', and seem like the most non-celebrity people we've ever not-personally-known. It's refreshing! They both talk like nice people talk; I think they are both genuinely good people and that is what also makes people seek them out ... to listen to: how they met, their childhood histories, how they made their way to and in the business. Will & Grace and Parks & Rec are in the top ten of best TV shows of all time, in my opinion, so I really wanted to listen to this book. One star off for not having a link to the book photos, nor a PDF of photos. The audiobook would have been superb with access to the photos.

Confession time: I don't watch, and have never watched, Will & Grace or Parks and Rec. I'm not sure why, exactly, because I thought I liked Megan Mullally and I DO enjoy Amy Poehler. Anyway, I thought I'd give this audio book a go and it ended up being just okay.

Someone who watches these shows or has a real fangirl thing going on for Nick Offerman and/or Megan M. might get more out of this book than I did. Megan and Nick talk about their pasts, how they met, their careers, how they manage to keep things fresh, and how they like to do jigsaw puzzles and listen to audiobooks while they do so.

To be honest, this book reminded me why I don't read romances and why I love horror. These two are cute, but after only a little while, they became too cute for me and I would have loved to see them, (or in this case, hear them), die horrible and painful deaths. Well, not really, but they were just too....sappy. I don't like sappy.

So there you have it. I thought this book was okay, but if you're a big Megan Mullally or Nick Offerman fan you're likely to get a lot more out of this too cute, sickeningly sweet book.

Thank you to my awesome public library for the free loan of this audiobook. Libraries RULE!

I will admit this felt less like a book and more like...what? Like I was a fly on the wall listening Megan and Nick chat back and forth about their lives. Regardless, these two stars are so personable, and their insanely obvious chemistry is what makes it all work. They feed off each other, and banter back and forth in a way that is both endearing and funny. This certainly wasn't the most hilarious thing I've ever read, and given the author's I was a bit shocked at that. However, it was a really fun read that went rather quickly.I found their back and forth refreshing for a narrative and unique. If you want a fun, lighthearted read and a glimpse into the lives of this couple, this is the book for you!

Absolutely loved this book! This is the funniest book I've read this year! The banter between Megan and Nick are hilarious as well as very sweet. You find out a lot about both of their past, families, religion, etc. The pictures are so funny and the nostalgic photos are cute. All in all a very good read. I actually read it in one day. Highly recommended.

I wanted to give this more stars, but I wasn't the hugest fan of the book. It was very conversational and jumped around a lot. There was a lot of interrupting, boner talk, and reminiscing. It was like a casual conversation. I'm sure the audio is drastically different from the print book in that there is a lot of spontaneous talk that you can tell was not included in print. On the upside we got some music and a bonus chapter, on the downside we missed out on all the cool pictures. It was neat hearing all about Nick and Megan's relationship, this just felt like more of a podcast then a book. Still fun though and it is awesome that it is narrated by the two of them. I will also say that this is far more than just their love story, it's part memoir about childhood, acting, family dynamics and other tidbits. They get their romance out of the way in the first third of the book.

These two are a damn delight! Please know if I ever meet the two of you I will not ask for a photo but I will ask you the most important question on this earth... “what’s this honey? What’s all this about? What’s happening? ?” read/listen to this book! It is a gem!

This was an amazing read! I have been a fan of Megan Mullally since I was in my young teens and grew to love Nick Offerman through Parks and Rec. I did not know anything about their lives or their love story until listening to this book on a work trip. I found myself laughing out loud and smiling most of the trip. While I am sure the hardback is just as great, I feel the audiobook is where one should give this book a chance. I felt as though I was listening to a podcast versus a book and their chemistry is palpable throughout the reading and telling of their story. I loved their honesty and found myself relating to Megan on so many levels. This really was the greatest love story ever told! Book Prompt: Read A humor book

I have never listened to an audiobook so quickly (and at regular speed!) - Libby app now makes it v obvious that there are lots of people waiting so no chance of renewals. But really it is an absolute blast. It’s like hearing a conversation between the two of them and they so obviously dig each other & are having fun w the audiobook. I especially love that they tried to describe the photos that are in the book! They really are the cutest couple.

This book was so cute! They really are an amazing couple and inspiration. Reading the hard copy was great because it's a substantial book and has photos, but I'm guessing the audiobook would be best. I could hear their voices as I read it, but it's nothing like the real thing, I bet.
