About this audiobook

Mary Persephone Hail

Mary-well-wished-for child.

Persephone-destruction.

Hail-well that speaks for itself.

Her name is painful to think about. Mary, his newfound daughter, isn't a wished-for child. Persephone, though? Yeah, destruction is a fitting description. And Hail? Yeah, that's just the final f-you.

The moment that her mother drops her off on his doorstep, Dante's hell becomes complete.

Or so he thinks.

What can make life worse after losing one's wife and kids, you ask? Here's what: being given a baby that depends on him for her survival. Finding out that the baby's mother is dying of brain cancer, and has a husband that he never knew about. A husband that Dante knows in the marrow of his bones is trying to kill her just as surely as the cancer eating her brain.

Dante's a bad person. He's done some not so nice things, and now he's being punished for his misdeeds. Karma is finally catching up to him.

This child that he's been stuck with is of his flesh and bone. This child is his salvation. This child is the final nail in the coffin of his wife and daughters' too short lives.

He doesn't want this child.

But this child will save him whether he wants her to or not.

With the help of a friend-yes, a woman friend-Dante finds his way back to life. But what he finds when he gets back isn't the same life that he left behind. Turns out, he has to start living a new one. One where he's suddenly having feelings for a friend that helped him get through some tough times, and loving a daughter that won't let him quit.

Lani Lynn Vale has a way of putting so much depth and emotion in her words, that you can't stop feeling the waves of emotional turmoil the characters portray. This book was about heartbreak and healing - physical and emotional.

Finally, Dante's story. TRIGGERS: KIDNAPPING, ASSAULT, CHILD ENDANGERMENT, POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. We've been hearing about his tragic story since "Go to Hail". What we finally get to learn are the details of the accident and how he felt before and after. Then there is the baby, Mary and she brings him back to life. Of course LLV is all about the plot twist and we learn what is going on with the baby's mom and her best friend, Coby. Both Dante and Coby have been living in their own separate hell and Mary's mom brings them together. There's trouble brewing and Dante had to protect her. I really enjoyed this story but it was hard to swallow. There's a lot of grief. I love that little Mary becomes the glue that pulls both Dante and Coby out of the dark and brings them together. These two are perfect for each other. She's feisty and doesn't put up with his crap. He wants to protect her but had a hard time letting go of the past. The pull is strong. The sex is hot, the drama of DRAMATIC. ?? and you would not believe who the antagonist is. The series comes to a close and all the stories meld together.

Received an ARC at no cost to author..Prepare yourself for tears so keep the box of tissues handy. Since the first Hail Raisers book, I have been anxiously awaiting Dante's book, and we finally got it and Lani did wonderful. She got us to feel so much emotion, your heart breaks. We know that Dante lost his wife and kids and he has been a broken man. One night he sleeps with Marianne and gets her pregnant, a while later she drops of baby not because she is a bad mother but because she is dying (oh god) and this baby saves Dante. Marianne also asks that he take care of her best friend Colby..God the tears, I can't tell you more, but you need to read.
