About this audiobook

From the bestselling author of Burying the Honeysuckle Girls comes a riveting novel about a mother and daughter separated by grief, secrets, and a conspiracy that threatens to destroy their lives.

If there’s a healthy way to grieve, Erin Gaines hasn’t found it. After her husband’s sudden death, the runaway success of the tech company they built with their best friends has become overwhelming. Her nerves are frayed, she’s disengaged, and her frustrated daughter, Shorie, is pulling away from her. Maybe Erin’s friends and family are right. Maybe a few weeks at a spa resort in the Caribbean islands is just what she needs to hit the reset button…

Shorie is not only worried about her mother’s mental state but also for the future of her parents’ company. Especially when she begins to suspect that not all of Erin’s colleagues can be trusted. It seems someone is spinning an intricate web of deception—the foundation for a conspiracy that is putting everything, and everyone she loves, at risk. And she may be the only one who can stop it.

Now, thousands of miles away in a remote, and oftentimes menacing, tropical jungle, Erin is beginning to have similar fears. Things at the resort aren’t exactly how the brochure described, and unless she’s losing her mind, Erin’s pretty sure she wasn’t sent there to recover—she was sent to disappear.

This story keeps you on your toes. I couldn’t wait to get in my car to drive to work so that I can listen to the next chapter. I think this should be a movie

Way better than I ever thought it would be! Lots of twists and turns and every time I thought I knew what was happening something changed! I really hope there is a sequel

This book kept me on the edge of my seat, sometimes with my jaw agape! About 2/3 of the way I kind of knew what was going to happen but there were enough plot twists and exciting moments to keep me second guessing myself. Highly recommend!

I’m from the Deep South so no prejudice to our Southern Drawl from me, it’s my native tongue. But the narration of the daughter made me have to stop listening. It was so slow and whiny!

First of all I do like this writer and I really liked this book right up until the end. I did not like the twist at all, I feel like I wasted the two days to read the book… very disappointed

I absolutely loved, loved, loved this book. It kept me interested from the get go, even if it did drive me a little nuts waiting to find out what her husband was up to. Lol. I listened to this while walking and it made the time fly by.

Abrupt ending with many dangling questions, then a weird epilogue that, I guess was supposed to tie things up. Parts didn’t really hold my attention. The Readers need to pronounce Shorie’s name ONE way.

I liked the story but because this is an audiobook I have to rate lower because the narrators ridiculous and inconsistent attempts at southern accents are annoying and draw attention from what is a decent story. They need to re-record. So bad.

I loved this book. The narration really is spectacularly done and adds to the story. It was definitely a psychological thriller and a bit disturbing. I will be reading more by this author and these narrators as well.

The story was okay but I had to stop listening because Kate Orsini’s “blaccent” for Jess’ character is unacceptable.

I would have given this book five stars if it hadn't been for the author to make a 60 some year old man the suspect of a Love affair with a 40 some year old woman. Please, you need to make your story believable! Someone in their 60s is not going to have the sexual stamina to keep up with a woman in her 40s! Not to mention, that a woman in her 40s is not going to have an affair with a man in his 60s! This is why I gave your book two stars.
