About this audiobook

JARED

If I had a dollar for every time Banner Morales made my heart skip a beat . . . The heart everyone assumes is frozen over.

Her anger is . . . arousing. Every glare from those fire-spitting eyes, every time she grits her teeth, gets me . . . well, you know.

If I had a dollar for every time she's put me in my place, I'd be an even richer man.

I'm a successful sports agent because I assume "no" means you'll think about it. I'm sure what you meant to say is, "Coming right up."

They say even rich men don't always get what they want, but those men don't know how to play the game. The trick is to keep them guessing. Take Banner. She assumes she's winning, but this game? She doesn't even know how to play.

BANNER

If I had a dollar for every time Jared Foster broke my heart, I'd have exactly one dollar.

One night. One epic fail. One dollar . . . and I'm out. I've moved on.

I've found success in a field ruled by men. Anything they can do, I have done better. They can keep the field while I call the shots, blocking them when I have to. And Jared has the nerve to think he gets a second chance?

Boy, please. Go sit down. Have several seats. I'll just be over here ignoring the man carved from my fantasies with a lust-tipped chisel.

Oh, I didn't say the struggle wasn't real. But I've got that one dollar, and Jared won't have me.

Contains mature themes.

This book was well written but I despised the main characters. I will never forgive Jared and Banner for how they treated Zo. He deserved better.

    I need me a Jared.
This book was wonderful. I rarely give 5 stars but it was so nice to have a leading lady who wasn’t some skinny, blonde. Banner is a character that I completely relate to.

I loved the relationship between Banner and Jared. They are competitive and loving.
If you are looking for a book that makes you feel good from start to finish this is it.

Book 1 got some less than stellar reviews bc ppl didn't like the female narrator (totally unfounded bc she rocked it) but this one... Different story. Not all female narrators can pull off a man's voice, but at least try. Ms. Valentine's "male voices" makes the characters seem like 13 yr old little boys, which is really off-putting during s*x scenes. Other than that, very solid story. Would definitely recommend!

I loved everything about this book. The dialogue between the characters, the relationship between the two main characters. The narrators are great, really brought the story to life. I think Kennedy Ryan is my new favorite author! ?

I've never been so into a male character as I was with Jared he is an asshole but he is also honest, unapologetic and real. He knows what he wants and go for it. Banner she is my heroine, she has so much insecurities in her mind but that doesn't stop her from being fearless and straightforward, the friends to lovers then haters to lovers I LOVED IT...
Oh Latina mama made me think of my mother haha, so well portraited!!
Saying this I have to declare my incondicional love for Jared again. The first book left me speechless because was heartbreaking and this one healed my heart. Can't say enough how much I liked it, and how much I enjoy Kennedy's writing this being said I CANNOT WAIT for Lotus and Kenan story

Love triangles are not my favourite trope by far but Kennedy Ryan can make me read anything.

Block Shot is a lot more light-hearted than Long Shot and doesn't hit the same on the emotional rollercoaster but it is still an impactful read. Kennedy creates characters and worlds you never want to leave.

I love Banner but I love all the female characters that Kennedy Ryan writes. She writes about strong women with a backbone and who know exactly what they want. Banner is a smart, outspoken, Mexican woman. Up until Jared came back into her life she knew exactly what she wanted but then he throws everything for a loop. Jared is a character who you see change from the college to where he has morals to do and don't which then change or become murky in this cutthroat world ten years later.

Neither of them can outrun Fate and unfortunately for Banner, she has to break someone's heart.

Book 1 was my favorite. I think in book 2 I just didn’t like the relationship with Jared and Banner. They were toxic but not on the sense I cared about the relationship. It was more I didn’t care and I think Jared was annoying. He act like he was entitled to sex. That’s how he came off to me.

Love this book so much. I get why some "pure romance" readers would dislike it but this is al life messy and not perfect. Jared is amazing. Another great by Kennedy Ryan.

Teddy Hamilton is one of my favourite narrators and he definitely does Jared Foster justice. Seraphina Valentine was great as Banner too. Definitely a 5 star read/listen. Great combination of angst, character development, relationship building and, of course, steam. Would definitely recommend this!

I was thinking for the first half of this book that I liked this but would not like it as much as I liked book one in this series. I was SO wrong. Ryan managed some pretty fancy footwork here and I ended up loving this story. I also came to a place where I was, if not liking Jared (one MC) precisely at least finding him really hot. He is an ass, but he possessed my two favorite qualities in a person - he is super smart and does not suffer fools, and he is honest even when it reveals his flaws. Banner (the other MC) is all kinds of awesome, and I loved that she was caring and still ruthless. It is possible to maintain that balance, but it is really hard.A couple things kept this from being a 5-star. One was Banner's super close friend who is a regular presence at the beginning of the book straight up disappears without explanation about a third of the way in. There are a bunch of events in this book where anyone would require best friend time, and Banner does that sort of friend bonding-- until she hooks up with Jared and the BFF disappears entirely. Another issue was Banner's weight obsession. Ryan stresses how Banner has come to feel comfortable in her body, but that is not what she shows. All the way to the very end of the book when Banner expresses that she accepts her (taut) curves she is also apologizing -- she says something along the lines of nature made me this way so I can't help it and I accept it but I sure wish I could be a single digit girl. That is unfortunate. I loved that she prioritized getting in shape, that she worked out and was careful about food intake, but great shape comes in delicious flavors, and curvy is one of them. This is a sensitive issue for me since I am naturally curvy. I am fat now (and I know I am supposed to embrace that but I don't personally see it as attractive because I know it is not healthy and I am not taking care of the machine), but there have been times where I was in amazing shape. In my 20's and 30's I spent most weekends rock climbing, trekked for 6 weeks in the Himalayas, and ran 3-5 miles a day 4x a week and I was still an hourglass and I hated my body. That makes me sad now, and in retrospect I see that my healthy body was beautiful. I hate to see that narrow size zero view of what constitutes a beautiful body (the view that was drummed into me) reinforced. Otherwise I really loved this book, and Kennedy Ryan has moved into my small stable or romance writer favorites. Book 3 in the Hoops series is coming up after a little break, and I expect I will be jumping into her other series soon.
