About this audiobook

When Nikki lands an assistant job at her idol’s restaurant, she’s sure her next big break is around the corner. After a rocky start, she befriends Paul, the handsome executive chef. Although he graduated from culinary school, and Nikki’s a self-taught cook, the two begin bonding in the kitchen. But Nikki’s new boss, Holly Hanson, turns out to be anything but admirable. She'll stoop to anything to save her restaurant, and Nikki and Paul both pay the price. Can they win against the scheming of a celebrity chef? Maybe, with some creative thinking...and a dash of love. This book contains a free Hallmark original recipe for Nikki’s Beef Chili with Cinnamon.

A "short order" cook, a diner, a chef & a celebrity restaurant don't seem like things that go together but they meshed perfectly in this adaptation of a Hallmark movie. Nikki is a self taught cook with a flair for food. Her odd combinations make good comfort food even better. The only thing she lacks is self-confidence. When Gus, the owner of the diner where she is cooking, decides to retire, he wants her to take over but she doesn't think she can make it. Now, without a job, Nikki is looking for any job to make rent money. Paul has been the executive chef at Holly Hansen's fine restaurant for five years. He loves being a Cordon Bleu chef, even though the food & menu have been uninspired for some time. Holly nixes any ideas he has & makes him feel foolish for even suggesting them. A bad review from a customer has him feeling discouraged, even though he agreed in his heart with what the customer said. He hates to leave his job & his mentor but what should he do? I loved these characters! Nikki & Paul are complete opposites even thought they both like to cook. Nikki is open, honest & friendly while Paul is closed down, private & moody. The interactions between them were at times sweet & at time hilarious. The supporting characters invoke emotion in the readers & provide depth & dimension. This is a really nice, sweet romance with a little drama.
