About this audiobook
From #1 Bestselling author Morgan Rice, comes Book Two in THE SURVIVAL TRILOGY, a new trilogy of dystopian fiction.
Having just escaped from the treacherous island that was once Manhattan, Brooke, Ben, Logan, Bree and Rose make their way up the Hudson river in their stolen boat, low on fuel, low on food, and desperately needing shelter from the cold. On their tails are the slaverunners, who will stop at nothing until they capture them and bring them back.
As they make their way upriver in this post-apocalyptic, action-packed thriller, on their way to try to find the mythical city in Canada, they will need to use all their ingenuity and survival skills to stay alive. Along the way they will encounter crazed survivors, roving gangs of predators, cannibals, wild animals, a desolate wasteland, and an unstoppable blizzard. They sustain injuries, get sick, and the Hudson freezes over as they do their best to salvage what they can and avoid the slaverunners’ pursuit. They find a small island and think they have found respite—until events don’t go their way. It is not until they board a mysterious train to nowhere that they find that things can always get worse.
Along the way, Brooke’s feelings for Logan intensify, as do her feelings for Ben. Torn between these two boys, caught between their jealousy, she is unsure how she feels—until events choose for her.
As they find themselves thrown back into an arena, they are shocked to discover that Arena Two is even worse. Thrown into a barbaric fighting stage, equipped with weapons, pitted against other teenagers—and against themselves—Brooke and the others will be forced to choose what’s important, and to make the most difficult sacrifices of their lives. Because in Arena Two, no one survives. Ever.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I finished the book, and plan to listen to the final book... however, it was a challenge. The story concept is good. The voice acting and writing are... less good. The writing, like the first book in the series, is incredibly repetitive. Once you accept the repetitiveness and care solely about the storyline, it’s a better ride.
I don’t much care for the alleged love-triangle sort of situation; I very much appreciated the use of each character, good or sad.2 people found this helpful
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I love this series, although some what stressful. A small band of friends are doing whatever possible to survive, in a dystopian landscape. The gravest danger are the Slave runners , that collect people for there arena battles.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Great concept/storyline, but written so poorly. It sounds like it was never edited. The narration is also terrible. She sounds so bored and gives no emotion to anything. However, I can’t stop listening and will be listening to #3 next. :)
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This writer can tell a story. Far Fetched? Yes. Repeats certain phrases? Yes. Characters all pretty much speak the same? Yes. In serious need of an editor? Oh yes! But this story grabbed me and I stayed up late (really late) to finish them. The second one ends all nicey nicey but it says there will be a third one so more harrowing experiences to come.
The story is about a young girl/woman Brooke and her little sister Bree who are living in the apocalypse after a war that has destroyed the cities. What remains are the Slaverunners who have taken over the cities, and the Crazies who are bio monster type of people, damaged from the radioactive fallout and angry. The slave runners go around looking for young people, kids, who will fill their Arenas which they run for entertainment, and of course, no one is reported to have ever survived the Arena.
Brooke and her little sister live in a mountain cabin that their father had before he left years ago to fight the war. Brooke eventually realizes they are not really safe there anymore and when she finds a hidden cabin further in the woods she plans to move there.
Then things happen. So this is a good exciting story that captures you and doesn't let go. - Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I'm sorry. This detail really bothers me. Chapter 1 about 17 minutes in, Brooke starts referring to the dog as Penelope. But like minutes later, they barley give the dog that name. So why is she calling it Penelope if they hadn't named her yet?
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I liked this trilogy so far but I’m annoyed at the moment where I’m at in the book because Brook could have poured some of the champagne on Rose’s wound so the alcohol in it could help to clean it but she didn’t and that’s irritating me also after that could get something to set in the fire and use it to burn her wound so it stops the bleeding, that’s all I have to say Lol
