About this audiobook

She's a servant masquerading as a lady...

Gillian Beaumont never had a fairytale life: she was left penniless after her father’s death, forcing her into service as a lady’s maid. Luckily, her mistress is more adventurous than most ladies and soon Gillian is aiding her espionage. One such spy mission forces Gillian to masquerade as a high-born lady to infiltrate a Hellfire Club. But when she falls into the club’s trap, she’s rescued by gentleman rogue, the Earl of Pembroke. His heated kisses make her long for a different life, but she has a secret that could destroy everything…

He's a gentleman on the outside, but a rogue on the inside...

James Fordyce, Earl of Pembroke, tries to be a well-behaved man—for the most part. A member of the Wicked Earls’ Club, he has his fair share of notoriety, but he’s longing for the day when he might settle down. A chance encounter with a mysterious beauty leaves him feeling full of hope. When she vanishes without a trace and danger seems to be following her, he knows he must find her and rescue the woman he is determined to make the future Countess of Pembroke. Tracking her down to the seedy halls of a Hellfire Club, he knows he’ll have to fight against all odds to save her before it’s too late…

Warning: This book contains a woman dreaming of a life she can never have, a hero who’s convinced he’ll never find the one woman destined to be his and a love so powerful nothing can stop it.

Loved it. You could listen to this before or after His Wicked Secrets of the series League of Rogues as they are in the same time frame. But i think this one should be listened to before.
Didn't particularly like the narrator. At times her male voices were awful. Now on to the next one, The Last Wicked Rogue of tne series The League of Rogues.

This seems like it's fan fiction rather than a novel written and edited by a publishing house. I don't know that im supposed to be laughing when hearing how sinister some of the characters are 'The Lord of Lust' ?

So sweet and romantic book I did enjoy this short story! Wow, I spent a delightful day on the interpretation James and Gillian's beautiful story! Lauren Smith's novella 'Earl of Pembroke' is her 10th story in the Wicked Earls' Club. This beautiful novella was so much fun to read, it's filled with romance with a touch of intrigue. This fiction had everything to please me!
As all the men of the League of Rogues, James, the Earl of Pembroke, is not of the marrying kind! But, when Gillian is rescued from the club of hell, she soon finds out how protective and charming James really is, however she is hiding a dark secret. How will he react when he discovers her secret? Will their love be strong enough to survive? Can they find true happiness together?

Brilliantly performed, this book is such a relief compared to its genre. It is refreshing to see characters who are not consumed with codependency; not running away in a sacrificial interpretation of their lover’s best interests. That becomes so tiresome… But here we see a fun story unfold in which the man is not an insufferable rogue, but kind and caring. As in most stories like these, we would expect correct British English and yet the author makes the typical grammatical mistakes of our day... Nevertheless, there are moving scenes and a bit of humor. Pretty fun read.
