- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Kick-Ass CreativityAn Energy Makeover for Artists, Explorers, and Creative Professionalsby Mary Beth MaziarzThis 239 page how-to is a much needed savior for the creatively bogged down. I loved the whole " I can" energy I picked up right off the bat. The subject of creativity is vast and hits all kids of areas all at once. I think we would have a far bigger mess if we were told there was only one way to be creative. So I truly appreciated the author's free style approach, and the perfect loose structure model that totally made sense.I also believe that when it comes to being creative, we need to capture the interest of our inner child right from jump, because with out that connection to spirit and our inner self good ideas can get lost by the way side very fast. Through exercises, and a simple plan of focus this amazing dandy leads us to a greater appreciation and awareness of ourselves. This blessed find has made it's way into my spiritual tool box and I would recommend the sassy and & special guide to anyone wanting to flow and express their multitude of talents. Thanks Mary, I feel so much better, stuck is not fun.Love & Light,Riki Frahmann
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I am really having a bit of a go-round about what to say about this book. I was eager to read it - and the title was really right up my alley...I am always looking for ways to spark my creativity and get my creative juices going. This was - and was not - that sort of a book. There are some really excellent exercises in the book that truly do present you with some very usable information about yourself. The book is more about a rah rah for yourself- catching the energetic wave. It's about the energetics of creativity rather than about "how to" - at least that's more how I read it.It's about creative focus and pumping yourself up. Sort of a coaching book. I have to admit to disliking the "Kick-Ass" part of the title - although I understand that what Ms. Maziarz says in the book can be well defined as kick-ass. I read some in this book and then put it down, digest the information and then read some more and re-read some that I have already read once. This book will, I think motivate you, coach you, cheer you on, empower you - I am not sure that it is about creativity though as much as it about creating a kick-ass life that makes you jump for joy. It's a good book and I can recommend it!

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5When it comes to the cognitive mind, science says we can best maintain function through a healthy physical lifestyle -- that the diet and exercise that keep the body’s blood vessels and tissues healthy do the same for the brain’s. In Kick-Ass Creativity, Mary Beth Maziarz proposes a parallel for the creative mind -- that a healthy mental-emotional lifestyle buoys not only overall energy but specifically creative energy. She encourages readers toward such a lifestyle through an “energy makeover” -- chapters about the laws of attraction (focus and intention); about noticing feelings and identifying their underlying desires; about reducing negativity; reducing fear and procrastination; and preparing for success (being ready -- emotionally and business-wise -- when a “lucky” opportunity arises). Each chapter ends with a workbook-like series of self-reflection questions and projects that reinforce the topic (including a “crazy-easy” mini-project that even readers who never do the exercises in a workbook will do).I came to this book familiar with most of its content but I wasn’t necessarily practicing it; thus Maziarz’s reminders and reinforcements were helpful. In fact, she opened my awareness in a way that has already led (twice) to life-shifting revelations. Read it for the information -- or the reinforcement -- and feel your own energy begin to shift.(Review based on an advance reading copy provided by the publisher.)
