I just started this one and I'm disappointed in myself that I somehow overlooked it until now as I LOVE this series!! Honestly, I'm not really into romance novels in general but I LOVE LIVE LOVE the Bridgerton series! I'm almost sad to see it end and would kind of love to either read the story of Violet and their dad or even see her get a second chance at love (or even both?) since I dearly love her! She and her relationship with her children have made this series!!

The idea of true love was nice but the conclusion was too tedious, unnecessary delays and complications, more humour was needed

Enjoyable book in the Bridgerton series, not quite as good as some of the others but still well worth reading. The hero and heroine are both charming and you find yourself rooting for them all the way through the book. Love this series.

And I made it to the last of the Bridgertons series. Well I am glad that it's over. The series had a good start but lost steam somewhere in the half... Every next part was a little bit less funny. I think the main culprit is that there was less focus on Bridgertons as a family, for which I am sad because those were my favorite parts in book.
As for this particular book the interesting part is that we have love triangle with one man and two women - rarely seen combination. I did not like our hero Gregory and his insta-loves.

Quinn is back in top form here - the dialogue sparkles, the narration is wonderfully witty, the balance between Bridgerton family feeling and one individual's romantic adventure perfect. I've wondered what she would do with Gregory because as a loyal reader of the Bridgerton series I did have a hard time thnking of him as anything but a bratty 13 year old throwing food at the dinner table.

I think she came up with a pretty cool answer: she took advantage of his youth and made him into a passionate mooncalf prone to dramatic gestures and sweeping generalizations. The book is about Gregory growing up - letting go of love at first sight and learning to love somebody who he really likes to be with. As Gregory stands up for what he wants and what he believes in, as he takes on the responsibility to protect Lucy and ensure her happiness, he becomes an adult.

Lucy, naturally, is delightful - although a lot of Quinn's heroines are very similar. Not the prettiest of the bunch, but witty and fun to be around and usually pretty practical. Lucy is also obsessively neat.

The book has a great twist, which is so great I don't want to say anything more about it.

    Synopsis
Gregory Bridgerton has fallen in love... only the lady in question won't give him the time of day. Her friend, Lucy Abernathy, offers to help but falls for Gregory herself. Gregory ultimately realizes that Lucy is the one for him but she is unfortunately engaged to someone else. Will things ultimately work out for everyone involved?

    Review
The Bridgertons is one of my favorite historical series and I was hoping it would end on a high note, but alas, On the Way to the Wedding is quite disappointing.

The plot borders on the ridiculous. It starts out as merely silly moves on to sad and depressing, then goes on to outright tragic and ends on completely implausible. It's almost as if Quinn ran out steam once she got to this book.

Nevertheless, the characters are excellent. Lucy is typical of Quinn's heroines - caring, generous and witty. While Gregory initially comes across as fickle, he does ultimately prove to be very dashing and extremely romantic. As always, Hyacinth is hysterically funny and it is worth reading the book if only for her cameo appearances.

The pace is slow for the first half but things pick up toward the end and the conclusion is quite exciting.

All in all, a worthwhile read despite its shortcomings and the epilogue leaves you with a smile as always.

I want to start off by saying that I have loved all the Bridgerton books and I think that Julia Quinn is a wonderful writer and I will always buy her books. That being said I wasn't as happy with this book as I have been with the others. I understand that it is difficult to write eight different stories and keep them fresh and interesting. I guess my biggest problem I had with the story is that almost the first half of the story is about Gregory and Hermoine Watson, who marries someone else after a scandal. The person that Gregory ends up marrying is engaged to someone else and has been for over a decade. It seems wrong that Gregory would take another's future wife but he does. I also as not fond of Lord Davenport or Robert Abernathy or Richard Abernathy. Lord Davenport is an abusive, arrogant, small minded idiot that needs to be taken out and abused a little himself. Robert Abernathy is a self absorbed ninny that never should have been given guardianship over Lucy. Lucy's brother is the worst. He is old enought to take over as earl and make Lucy happy but he is blind to everything but his love (obsession) with Hermoine Watson. Yes you probably are going to need a score card to keep track of all the characters. I was pleased to see Anthony and Kate in this story. I love seeing how the first seven characters are getting along with the Happily Ever After. The scenes with Anthony and Kate are some of the funniest and sweetest in the story. We also get to hear from Lady Brigerton, Hyacinth and Colin. I love reading how this family interacts with each other. They love each other very much but they also get on each other nerves. I am going to miss all of these people. There aren't many love scenes in this book, just one as a matter of fact. There is a lot of introspection by both the main characters. While it is nice to know what these two are thinking I would have like to see more interaction with the two of them. This is a very well written story and there are going to be people that have no problem with it at all. I am in no way suggesting that someone not read this story because it is the final book and it wraps up the series very well. I just think that some of these people needed to have a horse whip taken to them. I know that it would have solve a number of problems. If you love Julia Quinn's books then you are going to love this one as well.

The time has come for the last of the Bridgerton siblings to find love...Finally!I adored the Bridgerton family. Their little banter and their paths to true love. Or so I thought I did. The first few books of the series were enjoyable, if not earth-shattering. But things had started to go downhill ever since 'when he was wicked.' Gregory Bridgerton. How should I describe him? He seemed like a guy who has it all, who does not need to lift a finger to achieve it. And exactly the worst sort of hero I have in mind. He's like what. 26? And he's still drifting through life without a job or profession, in hopes to wait for the one who would change his life forever (or beat some sense into his head) to appear? I'm sorry to say but Gregory is not in the least manly when compared to his three brothers. At least, they're not long-winded and mushy. I also found 'on the way to the wedding' to be lacking in chemistry, for I can't quite gauge the love the two main characters have for each other. Is Lucy truly the one, or is she just a balm for his injured pride? All in all, I think this a satisfying read and a fitting ending to the series.

Jeez, I almost had a nervous breakdown while reading the last 20 pages or so of this book...(Julia, were you trying to kill me?)On the Way To the Wedding is about Gregory, the youngest Bridgerton male, who is 26, and still unmarried; the story starts at a party hosted by Kate and Anthony, where our hero falls in love -or at least that's what he thinks- with the most beautiful and popular young lady around, Miss Hermione Watson. Turns out she doesn't return the feeling (really, she couldn't care less about him), and as so, her closest friend, Lady Lucy, agrees to help him conquer Hermione, because she can clearly see that he's the best of all the men who court -or try to- her dear friend. And...falls in love with him in the process. For obvious reasons, the first part of this book reminded me a lot of The Viscount Who Loved Me, BUT Gregory is no Anthony, and I have to confess that it bothered me immensely that he kept thinking about Hermione and how amazing the back of her neck was for so long. Good God Gregory, open your eyes man, Lucy is right there. Just notice her already. Once. Humph. The second part of the story brings a lot of drama to the couple, first because Gregory still doesn’t know Lucy is THE ONE, or that he’s in love with her (although he kisses her, likes it, and then pretends it never happened - grrr), and the poor girl is engaged to be married to a gay man, who, thank the heavens above, is a good fellow, and doesn’t really make things harder for them.Like I said before, I almost had a fit in the end, with Lucy actually marrying the other guy, while Gregory was being escorted off the church screaming (!!!) – but alas, everything turned out okay in the end.Kate and Anthony's bits were hysterical, I can hardly believe she once dressed him as Cupid to attend a masquerade! xD

This was too leisurely for my liking, as it took so long for Gregory to see Lucy was the right woman for him. The story does pick up, when he finally sees the light, and races against time to save Lucy from her impending wedding.

A man who believes in love? A man who believes in romance? A man who awaits the "one"....the one who will knock him off his feet the moment he lays eyes upon her? I didn't know such a man existed....until I met Gregory Bridgerton in Julia Quinn's final installment of the Bridgerton series.Gregory is the youngest male in the Bridgerton clan and he is the most genuine when it comes to his feelings...a true romantic at heart. While attending a party at his eldest brother's house, Gregory is struck down by the sight of the most beautiful blonde he has ever laid eyes upon. He must have her....this must be love, for he cannot breathe, cannot fathom life without the awe-inspiring Hermione. He lavishes her with attention, only to receive nothing in response, for Hermione's heart has been given to another. But there is hope for Gregory in the form of Hermione's best friend, Lady Lucinda. Lucy thinks that the youngest Bridgerton male is a very suitable match for her best friend and thus sets out to help Gregory woo Hermione. But of course, Lucy soon falls for the witty young Bridgerton herself. But she cannot......for she is to be married soon, an arrangement made long ago. But what will happen when Gregory realizes that he is falling for Hermione's best friend? How can he marry a woman who is about to marry someone else?Once again, Julia Quinn does not let her readers down in this final book in a wonderful series. Reading about the heroine was like looking in the mirror at a young version of myself. Lucy is eager to please, always reliable....expected to do the right thing, always wanting things to be in order, for everyone to be happy, even at the cost of her own desires. Things are supposed to be a certain way and that gives our Lucy peace and comfort. But then along comes chaos in the form of a dark-haired, blue-eyed man with a sparkle in his gaze and the ability to make her laugh...make her feel safe...make her feel like herself. I rejoiced when Lucy decided that she was going to satisfy her own wants, her own desires....put herself first, even if it was for one night. A night she would cherish for the rest of her life, even if she was married to another man, a man she could never love like she loves Gregory. Our hero is a lover of love. He wants to be in love, to find his soul mate, and he fights to the bitter end for her, even after being rejected in the most public way. One's own heart cannot help but soar when Gregory professes his love for Lucy in front of hundreds. I melted. I encourage you to read this book. Join this cast of characters on their journey of discovery into the true meaning of love. You will laugh, you will cry, you will sigh, and you too will want what everyone wants.....an everlasting love.

Brief Summary: Gregory Bridgerton is the last of the Bridgerton siblings to get married. Having seen his 7 siblings fall madly in love, he is a romantic at heart who definitely believes in true love. When he sees Hermione, he knows without a doubt that he has fallen in love-at-first-sight. However, he's baffled when she doesn't feel the same way and even imagines herself to be in love with someone else. Her friend Lucinda offers to help Gregory woo Hermione, but instead she falls in love with him. Hermione ends up marrying someone else, and Gregory realizes it doesn't bother him as much as it should, which leads him to the realization that he never loved her in the first place. A conversation or two later with Lucinda ("Lucy," as he calls her), and Gregory is now madly in love with Lucinda. But we are to believe it isn't flighty and frivolous like his infatuation with Hermione. No, it is true love...deep, gut-wrenching, eternal love. However, Lucy is engaged to be married. The papers are signed, and although her heart belongs to Gregory, duty calls her to marry another man. If she refuses, her brother and best friend face certain ruin. Whom will she choose? The Good: Julia Quinn is an exceptional author, and for this reason, even a book with such a weak plot as this one deserves at least 2.5 stars. A lesser writer could not have pulled it off. Although I knew right away how it would end, there were unpredictable moments that truly shocked me. Every book should contain a few surprises, and this one certainly does. Some of Quinn's heroines behave in a manner which is utterly inconsistent with the times, but I felt Lucy's behavior was characteristic with an earl's daughter. She's also unlike most other heroines. She isn't bold, daring, outspoken, and mysterious. She believes in order, loyalty, and duty above all else. I found her to be a realistic character. The Bad: Gregory falls in love twice...once with Hermione, and finally with Lucy. He believes in this lightning bolt recognition of true love which is absurd. (He fell in love with the back of Hermione's head, for crying out loud.) It was hard to take him seriously when he behaved like a lovesick pup after one glance at her. The main story here should have been the love story between Gregory and Lucy, however too much time was spent on his infatuation with Hermione and then his and Lucy's separation from each other. Quite simply, Gregory and Lucy were not together enough for their romance to really come alive on the page. You don't experience them falling in love, and that is what I love best about a romance. They rarely speak to one another (except about Hermione), and they just aren't given enough time for a real relationship to develop. One of the things I love best about her other books is the witty dialogue between the hero and heroine. It's missing from this book. There's no spark, no chemistry. They are lacking passion as well. (Yes, there is one steamy scene, but you wonder how they got there. There's no build up.) At the end, Lucy misleads Gregory. It was unforgivable and selfish for a character who is selflessly marrying a man she's not interested in to save her family. The Verdict: I would rate this book a solid 3 star rating. It's just OK. Having read 9 other works by Julia Quinn, I was tempted to give it only 2 stars, because I know she's capable of much more. If you're a fan of the Bridgertons, you'll most likely find yourself a bit disappointed that Ms. Quinn did not give the family the send-off they deserve.

This book is the last of the series of 8 Bridgerton books. There are ancillary books that follow the stories of minor characters, but the main character’s stories finish with this book. I must admit that this book is my least favorite of the group. Throughout most of the series, Gregory Bridgerton (the hero of this story) is a child or a young man and not much attention is paid to him. The attention always seems to be on his older siblings. They way this story is told, Gregory doesn’t seem to have many redeeming qualities. On The Way To The Wedding starts with Gregory spotting Miss Hermione Watson at a house party and believing he has fallen in love. Hermione is very beautiful and is often the center of attention; her best friend Lucy Abernathy stands in her shadow. Lucy feels sorry for Gregory’s failure to win Hermione and decides to help him. Fate steps in and Hermione is caught in a compromising position with Lucy’s brother and is forced to marry. Obviously, Gregory can no longer marry Hermione.Lucy has been engaged for years to an earl and the time approaches for her to wed. Gregory, who has meanwhile decided that he isn’t in love with Hermione, but with Lucy, tries to get her to break off her engagement with the earl. Lucy doesn’t trust his feelings .(I wouldn’t either, given the speed with which they change)We find out that Lucy is being blackmailed and of course, that is the main reason behind her not wanting to break her engagement. In true Julia Quinn style, all is settled and we have a happy ending. (not wanting to give away the details of the ending)Not necessarily the best ending to an outstanding series. I have been impressed with Julia Quinn’s characters and character development throughout all the books of this series. The only character that I couldn’t seem to warm up to was Lucy. She seems quite weak and so undeserving of Gregory; so unlike the inner strength of all of the other characters of the books. Now that I mention it, Gregory seems a bit wishy-washy also! I feel sad that this outstanding series ends on this note. Since this book was the only one of this series to be both a RITA Winner and a New York Times Bestseller, I am puzzled. I’ve read several reviews for this book and everyone seems to feel that it is the weakest of the lot. So many other books in this series I feel are more outstanding than this one, yet this is the one that has won the awards. Hhhhmmmm......

I don't know whether its because of the insane hero, or the dutiful heroine, or possibly the gay fiance waiting in the wings, but I adored this book immensely. It absolutely made up for all the not so fun historical romances I've been reading lately and the riotously funny Bridgerton clan married off their youngest son in a truly astonishing scandal!

-Gregory, the youngest of the Bridgertons, believes in true love (witness his brothers and sisters for evidence), and figures all he needs to do is wait for it to happen. It does, at a sibling’s party – he’s struck by the view of a young woman’s nape, and just like that, he’s in love. Unfortunately, nearly every other man in London is in love with the same woman, but luckily for Gregory, his true love’s best friend, Lucinda, decides to help Gregory woo her friend. However, Lucinda soon realizes that she is in love with Gregory, and misery (and lots of wit) ensues. I enjoyed this one – all of the wit of the others, with some truly romantic (clutch in my chest) moments.

This is my favorite out of the Bridgerton series, althought "The Viscount Who Loved Me" is a close second! Unlike most men of his aquaintance, Gregory Bridgerton believes in true love. And he is convinced that when he finds the woman of his dreams, he will know in an instant that she is the one! And that is exactly what happened. Except....She wasn't the one. In fact, the ravishing Miss Hermione Watson is in love wha another. And now on the way to the wedding, Gregory must risk his heart to ensure that when he kisses the bride, he will be the only man standing there. I gave this book 5 stars, because I love this series very much and Gregory was my favorite out of the Bridgerton's even when he was little. He was very funny when he was younger, throughout the series you'll see, although he does not speak very often in the series, when he does or does an action, its funny. Like tossing peas at his sister Hyacinth.

This was just what the doctor ordered when I was sick and Valentine-less. Quinn's historical romances ride the line between regencies and bodice-rippers (this one has only one--fairly graphic-- sex scene) and her characters are always well developed and witty. This is the eighth and final novel in her Bridgerton Family series, but I wouldn't say you have to have read the others in order to appreciate it (although they're fab, especially The Duke and I and The Viscount Who Loved Me). My only complaint was that the whole last hundred pages or so seemed tacked on, with a somewhat extraneous blackmail/thriller plot that I felt wasn't necessary. Recommended for a light, delightful romance read.

This is the last Bridgerton book, and like all the rest, I quite enjoyed it! Gregory is quite a bit unlike his older brothers - he's a total romantic rather than a rake - which I find to be quite adorable. Lucy, on the other hand, is a strong woman who tries to take care of all of her problems herself, even to the extent that she's willing to give up the man she loves to save her family. She does not do this, however, by getting desperately out of time period - she is able to be a strong woman within the confines of the social structure of the day. Brava to Julia Quinn for that! This book is charming, and I highly reccomend.

Gregory loves the wrong woman, who is in love with another man. Lucy Abernathy decides to meddle, and falls in love with Gregory, however she's promised in marriage to another man. When Gregory falls in love with her things aren't as simple as they might seem. Fully of intrigue, love and some serious complications going on in the world, it's a very fun read. The characters are believable and their motives are believable too.I did enjoy it a lot. Nothing here is more spoilered than from the inside of the front cover!
