About this ebook

The fourth book of the #1 New York Times bestselling I Am Number Four series!

John Smith—Number Four—thought that things would change once he and Nine reunited with the others. But he was wrong. After facing off with the Mogadorian ruler and almost being killed, the Garde realize they are drastically unprepared. Now they're hiding out in Nine's Chicago penthouse, trying to figure out their next move.

Even with the return of an old ally, these superpowered teens aren’t strong enough yet to take on an entire army. To defeat their enemy, the Garde must master their Legacies and learn to work together as a team. And when they receive a sign from Number Five—the last missing member of the Garde—they know they are close to all being together finally. But could it be a trap? Time is running out, and the only thing they know for certain is that they have to get to Five before the Mogs do.

Michael Bay, director of Transformers, raved: “Number Four is a hero for this generation.” This epic young adult series is perfect for fans of action-packed science fiction like The Fifth Wave series by Rick Yancey, The Maze Runner series by James Dashner, and Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game.

The battle for Earth’s survival wages on. Read the rest of the series: #5: The Revenge of Seven, #6: The Fate of Ten, and #7: United as One.

Don’t miss the first book in the brand-new I Am Number Four spin-off series: Generation One.

Another one down!I've mentioned before that the Lorien Legacies series is formulaic and no great works of literature. But then came "The Fall of Five!" I stand by my earlier assessment. It's fun enough to keep reading the series, but it's definitely just all empty calories with no healthy nutritional value. There's also slopping proofreading from someone - Six, a main character, who's been described in detail repeatedly, is noted to have blonde hair almost throughout...and then black hair at one point...and back to blonde. I initially chalked it up to disguises, thinking I forgot something...but no, it was just careless editing/writing. The presentation of a couple key story points early in this installment were so blatant with their foreshadowing that I was thinking they were surely intentionally placed as misdirects. But they weren't. Based on the info I received in the first quarter of the book, I could have written the last 3/4 fairly accurately to how it turned out. Another gripe - I get this is a YA book... but I don't get why they need to include curses (super rare but still). There is at least one instance of the f*** word, sh** and a couple other minor ones. It doesn't add...I don't think teens or pre-teens reading these books would get less out of them without the curses. It just seems unnecessary and lazy. All that said, I'm more than halfway through, no turning back now!

I really like the I Am Number Four Series. I think the characters are so well written and you like all of them. In this book you come to see the story told mainly by Sam and Marina, and only a little by John./*SPOILER ALERT*/The book opens with Sam meeting up with his father. The Garde are found regrouped in Chicago in Nine's penthouse. Six and Four go to meet up with the last missing Garde, Five, and are attacked. They are saved by Sam and his father.

I wish I had reread the previous book; it took me a while to sort all the characters out. Really enjoyed the book, more info on the characters and their relationships than actual fighting.Hated the ending!!!! Anyone know when the next book comes out?

Rating: 3 of 5Being the fourth book in the series, there was way, way, WAY too much time spent on everyone's histories, feelings, talking, and training sessions. Had this been a movie, all that training would've been pure eye candy. But having to slog through all of the above to reach honest to goodness forward motion on the story/series plot was the main reason I rated The Fall of Five 3 stars instead of 4. I will say that the two twists, one confirmed death, and one possible death at the end made up for all the effort it took to keep on reading. Still, I won't re-read this one when/if I do an entire series marathon. Fans of the series who don't need (or want) a refresher in the characters' upbringing or love lives could read Chapters 1-3 and Chapters 30-37 and be up to speed on the story's progress, ready for the fifth book.

I liked the training scenes, but other reviewers were correct - not much of note happened in this book. It really just sets up for the next book.

I am enjoying the turn the series has taken. The general premise was good guys against the bad guys, but now the lines are blurring and allies (and enemies) can be found in unlikely places. I'm looking forward to seeing how the series is resolved.

I give this book a solid 4.5. I was going to go with a 4 since there was so much that was easy to pick out and figure out so early on, but the ending was a bit more than I was expecting, so I thought I would bump it up at least half a point. I am worried about where the story will go from there. It feels like there is not a lot left that can happen in this story, and not a lot of things that can be added to the story to twist and change things and lead to a book about anything more than the kids training and then someone dying here and there. Unless a big twist is coming, I feel like the rest of the series might be a lot of monotony.

More of the same and I don't know why I actually like these books. I think it really is just the story as the writing seems to be by the numbers.

Fall of Five is the third book in the Lorien Legacies. In this book the team John, Six, Nine, Eight, Seven, Ella, Sarah, and the dog Bernie Cusior are at Nine's penthouse in the John Handcock Center. there searching threw the news wen they get an encrypted message from the missing number Five. Mean while Sam has been captured but is freed by his long lost Dad. But he is also aided by a Mogadorien named Adam. Soon John, Six, and Sarah find Five after solving Fives code but also find Sam and Father there too. The return to base and have a celebration of reuniting everyone. Even with all this there are still problems, Ella who has the mind messaging and vision legacies has been having strange and horrifying dreams which end up trapping John in it with her! But even with this they decide they will proceed with the task of retrieving Fives chest but when there gone the base is attacked and the Mogadoreins steal Ella but John is able to save Sarah, Sam, and Sam's Dad. back on the mission Five is discovered being a traitor but proposes to Eight and Seven to join him sense they were the nicest to him but Eight sacrifices him self to save the others and leave Five with a mangled foot and a missing eye. I like this book because i liked the other books in the series. I also like this book because its a sci-fy. The mains charters and enemy are from different planets that may or may not exist. This book has good imagery details. It also is very action packed, I also like that its a fiction book witch tend to be very good. To conclude I like this book because its sci-fy, its action packed, and it has good imagery.

I almost had to put this on my tearjerker shelf but then I changed my mind because I didn't cry. However, it was still shocking and traumatizing for me when the plot twist happened. Okay, in case you didn't hear the spoilers flying around the internet, you ready?...[s]One of the Garde dies. Like in the worst way possible. Look, you'll understand once you get to it. [/s] It was just plain depressing and it angered me so much. I felt like the whole death was just unjustifiable. My heart cracked completely. UGH. By the way, the 3 stars isn't for the horrible death; that would be unfair to the author. Academically, it fits the rating for the writing, the descriptions, and the number of plotholes I found in the story. Six's hair is described as blond in one chapter and then it's black in another. And really, that's such an elementary mistake that the editor should've caught. That's not something you can brush off when the character's appearance is unconsistent. This one wasn't as exciting as the other books since everyone mostly sat on their bums and hung out in Chicago. Not really planning but more like training and "getting to know each other". Seriously, the whole thing was like a motivational campaign and a social gathering. Nothing much happens (until the end) and I'm telling the truth.

So we re-enter the hectic world that is the Loric's fight to save humanity from the Mogadorians. The remaining Loric are reunited with the exception of Five, who they are trying desperately to find. I have made no secret of the fact that I can't stand Number Four/John Smith. The good thing about the alternate perspectives is I don't have to read a whole book of Four's blathering about how much he loves Sarah but oh no he kissed Six and he thinks he's a reincarnation of Pittacus Lore and blah blah blah. Seven/Marina is the voice of reason and I enjoy her view. Sam, as one of the only humans in the groups, also provides a different insight which I did think was interesting but he also had a lot of rubbish in his head too. Nevertheless, I did enjoy this latest installment and JUST QUICKLY I never thought that these books would be able to surprise me but they did! And now I'm looking forward to the next one way more than I thought I would! But also I should mention that I left this book at work and didn't pick it up for a week, read about three other books in between and didn't really miss it so that's why this is only getting three stars.

If it were not a part of such an important series I would leave it off the shelves. WAY to much language and just plain boring in comparison to the others.
