About this ebook

This is the third “Real World User Guide” I have written and it faithfully follows the same focus as the previous two:

A concise and easy to follow real-world user guide, loaded with tips-and-tricks which make a quick and real difference to what it is you are trying to achieve.

Over the last 20 years, I have gathered together many great tips from my family’s vegetable gardening exploits, fellow growers’ advice and also from my own personal experiences of seeing what does and doesn’t work.

I have spent a little longer on tomato growing in this Real World User Guide as I have always had a bit of a thing for tomato growing, and in fact, I would even go so far to say I am a bit of a tomato growing maniac :o) .... Early Cascade, Legend, Golden Nugget, Garden Peach or Champion, I care not which, I love and grow them all!!

I then share some general growing tips I have learnt about the other vegetable plants and herbs that I grow every year, such as peppers, broccoli, carrots and Swiss chard and lastly, I mention a few general good-practice seed storage tips and tricks.

Of course these days many vegetable plants are available to us ready to plant-out, but nothing quite compares to the thrill of being involved with your produce right from the start...

In fact for me, nothing in the wonderful world of gardening is more fulfilling than going all the way!

Tim Sutton

A hardcore e-biker since 2008. I ride throughout the Swiss winters. I sold over 250 copies of the "Real World User Guide to ebikes" on ebay before I discovered Smashwords :) I am also a single handicap golfer and I used to be a successful ski instructor, which has lead me to try and find a way to help other golfers get better as quickly and as painlessly as possible. (Which is easy, just read my guide :) I am also an avid vegetable and tomato grower and have for most of my life been involved with either my parents vegetable patch or my own kitchen garden.

    Introduction

There is something magical about seeing a tiny seedling sprout from a dry seed that you yourself have planted. To harvest a bumper crop of delicious, healthy food from that young seedling once it has grown to maturity is truly one of life's more rewarding experiences.

Of course these days many vegetable plants are available to us ready to plant-out, but nothing quite compares to the thrill of being involved with your produce right from the start.

For me, nothing in the wonderful world of gardening is so fulfilling as going all the way!

I have gathered together many great tips from my family’s seed growing experience, fellow growers’ advice and from my own 20 years of vegetable growing experiments, exploring and tasting what does and doesn’t work.

Having bought this concise vegetable grower’s guide, I am confident you will have much more trial and far less error in your own future vegetable growing adventures too!

The Real World User Guide for Growing Vegetables from Seed is best used as a complementary reference guide to the instructions you receive on the seed pack. It shares the tips and tricks I have learnt over the years that will help to ensure you achieve a delicious, bumper crop year after year after year. Whether you are gardening in-ground or in containers I hope you will enjoy this little book and find it a useful aid to making the most of your grow-your-own gardening experience.
