About this ebook
Gordon D Wilkinson, born July 1948 in Oxford, United Kingdom:
reading is one of the pastimes that serving in the british army in brunei, was one of the few things to do at night. poetry first surprised then engulfed my spare time, after being given a very tatty old book of rhyme. once the appetite was whetted there has never been anywhere in the world, that I have visited or worked, that at least one book of prose has had a home in my suitcase.
writing poetry my-self did not come until much later when I started to dabble with prose, posting some to an online social site. here with encouragement from friends the bug really bit deep, consuming nearly every minute of spare time. putting emotions into words, expressing thoughts on amusing incidents with some outspoken words on anything that I feel needs to be exposed is my goal.

Foreword
We live life like that of a butterfly, fluttering about daily not always in control of the flight. Searching for riches, sustenance and the ever elusive cherished love - the latter found in the most unlikely places.
Sometimes our searching takes a whole lifetime, all the dramas sprinkled with pleasant interludes. Along the way few of realize the true value of giving of ourselves, even just embracing the extraordinary beauty of life as we wander through our years. Many times that which we seek hides there in full view, it is just we cannot see past the flotsam that is there too.
It has taken me most of my life to realize this, poetry has become my book of thoughts - of the good and bad things that have happened in my life. My journey has not always been smooth, the potholes seemed like caverns that I could never escape from but always there was an escape.
Imagination is a wonderful wind to ride upon, dreams which are not always practical but nonetheless needed in a hard world. Upon this wind, we should ride regularly, to use it as a battery to recharge ourselves. To leave the colorless world of conformity behind, living life as an open colorful book - With these thoughts in mind, take my hand and wander though my small world of poetry.

The heart within is but butterfly wings
Multicoloured and fragile
Yet it beats strong with love
Uplifting the soul from the depths
Soaring on the wind
Perfect, delicately balanced love
