CHAPTER 1
The Path of the Artist, Mystic and Saint
Feeling tired, sensitive and confused? Congratulations you are on the path of the artist, mystic and saint.
Whether tiredness, sensitivity and confusion are constitutionally your natural characteristics or a part of a condition, would it be easier to bear if you knew these attributes served a purpose? That they were indicative of spiritual opening and psychic gifts, rather than a malfunction in a machine-like body? Physiologically, the body produces a limited repertoire of symptoms, and tiredness, sensitivity and confusion are experienced in many conditions from the acute such as influenza (which means influence from the stars) to the more chronic like diabetes or multiple sclerosis, but the one that most aptly portrays this constellation is myalgic encephalopathy or chronic fatigue syndrome, (ME./CFS.) As I suffer from this debilitating condition and it is part of my journey, I will take it as an example. But when I refer to ME./CFS. This equally covers any condition that tiredness, sensitivity and confusion play a part.
It is now generally acknowledged that the cause of ill health does not begin and end on the physical level. That our thoughts, feelings and subconscious interact and operate a feedback mechanism with the body. And symptoms are serving a function to create positive change.
Developmental growth
Many believe whatever we experience is meant and meaningful; bringing the lessons we need for growth, wholeness and enlightenment. However with many holistic approaches there can be connotations of learning a lesson as if in error, that can be rectified, returning one to a Kellogg@s-cornflake-happy normality But what if it is a gift? Not in the sense of suffering-resulting-in-becoming-a-better-person-type -gift: beaten over the head until one transforms into a decent human being but in the sense of a developmental growth spurt. Having qualified for a higher training, going through a curriculum to reach a more evolved state of being. Taking a holistic approach, symptoms can be investigated rather than suppressed. After all a spiritual problem needs a spiritual solution.
Astrology is one of the most ancient holistic systems. And I find it is particularly effective in the diagnosis of the spiritual/psychological causes behind physical effects.
Our trio of symptoms seems to be associated with the planet Neptune (the sea god/goddess) in a stressful aspect in the birth chart. I have found this to be true, for friends, clients and myself. But do not worry you do not have to understand astrology. As Neptune takes you on a transformational journey, with her special psychedelic magic, beautiful dreams and rainbow colours, she is opening the door to another order of reality.
Fieldwork
If we believe we are undergoing fieldwork in compassion, sensitivity, clairsentience, and aesthetic appreciation, maybe we can turn what seems like a liability into a strength?
CHAPTER 2
Astrology
In an astrological chart, the Sun and Moon represent our individuality, Venus, Mars and Mercury how we relate to friends and lovers, Jupiter and Saturn how we fit into society. The outer planets indicate our artistic and spiritual inclinations. Generally, anyone with the outer planets emphasised will be a spiritual seeker. Depending on which it is, whether Uranus, Neptune or Pluto that is highlighted, will indicate the particular path and experiences, gifts, attributes and even illnesses undergone. It is as if a person is being tuned into that planetary vibration.
Now I am not saying Neptune causes M.E. in a simplistic linear fashion. But if someone describes certain experiences, and I check their birth-chart this is what I find. If we look at a comparison of Neptune’s attributes and M.E./C.F.S. symptoms: we find that they both share three main characteristics:
Fatigue
Confusion
Sensitivity
Psychologically, Neptune is described as artistic, dreamy, idealistic, emotional, imaginative, inspirational, spiritual, mediumistic, and subtle. As far as I know there are no personality studies of M.E sufferers, but it is postulated that there is a heart-attack personality, a cancer personality and so on and this is not dismissing the physiological basis of these conditions. I would venture that the above listed attributes are the characteristics of the
