Julie M. Holloway
Julie M. Holloway of JMH Art & Design Studio, is a native of Chicago, IL where she currently resides with her husband Darnell and two children, Jasmine and D.J. Holloway is a freelance artist who is a versatile and gifted designer, artist and marketing guru. Her projects reflect her expertise in designing invitations of all kinds as well as beautifully-crafted book designs. Her graphic designs can span from the simple one-page (one modest idea) to the complexities of flash, using the latest software technologies that only the most exceptional artistes in the field of design are currently using–and she is sculpting that software in to pages of branding heaven–sometimes leaving her customers so ecstatically happy with her work that they have no words; they are in tears of joy and are truly appreciative that she has put forth such an exalted effort on their behalf. Then there are the branding concepts she develops with ease. The branding aspect appears to be a natural extension of the work she does as a designer. Her eye naturally pulls out the most vital details for a project that will make it soar to new heights and draw the consumer in with the unusual quality of the painting and/or mural for which she has been commissioned. Much of her artistic ability was self-taught with the home-based, Art Instruction School, where she began around the age of eight. Her natural talent was soon discovered in elementary, junior high and high school where she studied studio arts for all four years. Afterwards, Holloway continued to study at a pre-college program at Ringling Art & Design in Sarasota, FL. She also studied at the prestigious, School of The Art Institute of Chicago’s foundation program. She is currently studying at Capella University, and is looking forward to graduating with her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration degree in the summer of 2013. Throughout her schooling, her art has regularly received many awards and recognition. Holloway may have begun her business as a fine artist with a love of painting murals, but because she has that “it” factor, she draws people to her graphic design services with ease. Men, women, children, babies, strangers, the old crotchety type, and the business type–all the way up to the CEO are attracted to Holloway because, there’s just something about her. She exudes this air of peace, tranquility, and trust. When you put your project in her hands, you are assured that your project will be worth every penny you invested and more. Not only does Holloway give you her best work, she gives you the very best of herself. She has truly discovered a love for helping the next entrepreneur put their best foot forward. Holloway’s lifelong passion has always been to pull up those who need help, get the help they need and more. It is one of her greatest joys in her design business to surprise a client with a free logo from her, “Logo Gift Foundation,” wherein she consults with a new entrepreneur and discovers what they hope to achieve in their new business venture. Unbeknownst to this aspiring entrepreneur, Holloway has been gathering information that will help her to design the perfect logo for that client’s business. Once the client finds out what is happening, they are overjoyed, they are speechless and so grateful that someone would take this chance on them and help them in this way. Holloway knows all too well that this gesture–which is a small gesture to her–can make all the difference; from simply opening the gate, to bursting out of the gate, ready to fly and use that new logo to bring about the change that is needed to give the once hesitant entrepreneur a much-needed burst of confidence. Oftentimes, this gesture on Holloway’s part, results in the entrepreneur’s very first sale. That rush she feels when helping entrepreneurs-both old and new-is the kind of feeling that Holloway constantly chases. She gets the kind of high from helping entrepreneurs get their feet wet that most people get from scoring their first big job, buying their first home or car or even, the kind of high those crazy runners get when they have been running far too long, by normal society’s standards. The feelings Holloway receives when she helps other entrepreneurs is the reason she decided to expand her studio art business into a multi-faceted range of services from fine art to graphic design; utilizing her business skills as a virtual office assistant. Should you be in the market for any of these services, please visit the Contact page her website www.jmhcre8ive.com site for more information or for a free quote of services. If you have ideas of what you would like to see painted, or designed let her know!

The Entrepreneur Within You - Julie M. Holloway
Foreword
By: Bernada Nicole Baker
In Pursuit of Your Passion
Have you ever wondered exactly what it means to discover your purpose and passion? What does it feel like to tap into your passion and to actively pursue your purpose? Do the days pass by when you are no longer comfortable in situations that were once all too familiar? There is burning desire on the inside of your heart to further indulge in your creativity and the freedom of exploring the artistic expressions that bring you joy and a sense of inner peace.
You find yourself frustrated on every hand and things that once made sense to you, no longer have a rationale about why you do what you do. Have you ever sat back and watched other people find such joy and fulfillment in the work that they do from day to day? Are you looking for a greater sense of purpose and peace as you tap into your inner entrepreneurial potential? If you answered YES, to any of these questions, then you are traveling the journey of being in passionate pursuit of discovering your purpose and birthing forth your passion.
Every Step of the Journey is the
Journey
In your quest to fulfill your destiny, you must be willing to take risks. You have to be willing to dare to be extraordinary. In your quest to pursue your passion, you have to be willing to pick up the broken pieces, after falling flat on your face and being ostracized, embarrassed and judged by others and pick up right where you left off. There is no such thing as failure, if you learned a lesson during the process. When you are in pursuit of your greatness, be prepared to confront a sequence of major challenges. In the midst of your journey, your faith has to serve as the foundation for which you establish your goals.
The process of discovering your passion is by far not an easy task. If by chance you are not fully committed to pursuing your passion, then you may want to consider bowing out of the race now. I say that boldly because there is a mere possibility that with the journey of an entrepreneur, your return benefit may not be as rewarding as you were initially anticipating. Your days may very well be filled with an overwhelming abundance of frustration, a shortage of resources, writer’s paralysis, lack of motivation and a lack of support. In order to passionately pursue your purpose, it is imperative that you are a person of focus, tenacity and commitment in an effort to aggressively make your dreams a reality without throwing in the towel.
You can either throw in the towel, or you can use it to wipe the sweat off your face!
-- Gatorade
Along the journey, you will experience a myriad of feelings that will attempt to suffocate you, however, when the obstacles occur and your faith is questioned, that is simply an indicator that you are closer to birthing forth your purpose into the earth than ever before. Will adversities arise? Surely! Will others think you have lost your mind? Of course! Will you feel as if you are riding an emotional roller coaster without a seat belt and on a full stomach? Certainly!
I could provide you with an outline of what to expect along the journey of birthing forth your purpose, but I thought that sharing my story, tears, frustrations and successes would be much more beneficial as you embark upon your journey. I have always been a hard worker; I started my very first job at the tender age of 15. I believe in being committed, dedicated and maintaining your character at whatever task you have been assigned to complete. Work ethic and integrity have been my mottos for as far back as I could ever remember. I was determined to go to college and earn my degrees in order to obtain a high paying position. Then, I could have a big fancy title, a nice office with a lake side view and an assigned parking space which would give me a real reason to wear my name brand suits, pearls and pumps on a daily basis.
RED ALERT! RED ALERT! Somebody PLEASE sound the alarm! The plans that I had originally mapped out for my destiny totally COLLIDED with my passion and purpose.
My professional goals were to make lots of money, to have notoriety and to call the shots as the big wig in my position. My passion was to help individuals maximize their potential and equip them with the tools needed to be the very best that they could possibly be. Although my passion did not initially render a significant cash flow, the rewards that I received for the privilege of being allowed to empower others to maximize their potential, discover their purpose, to make their dreams a reality and to not be overtaken by fear was PRICELESS!
Sometimes in life, we as humans have the propensity to lose sight of those things that really matter, those things that really bring value to the world and to our everyday lives. Somewhere along the journey of wanting to ensure that I had financial security and was well recognized and successful in my career, I allowed my purpose and passion to be overshadowed.
I went through the exact same routine for approximately 10 years, where I felt like I was walking around the same corner over and over and over again and not making much progress at all. I was making the same amount of money, I was still struggling financially and I was not experiencing much joy or fulfillment at all on my jobs. I finally came to realize that my routine had become all too familiar, regardless of which company I worked for or the title that I had been assigned, I continued to hit a glass ceiling. However, the glass ceiling was not based upon racism or gender or even age discrimination, it was based solely on the fact that because of the myriad of creative gifts and talents that God had entrusted unto me, working to help someone else build their dreams would never bring fulfillment and joy to my life.
WOW!! You mean to tell me that a company will never be able to help me birth my purpose into existence as long as I am slaving on their behalf?!
DUH!! Once the light bulb went off, I was convinced that it was time to do something different, because although I did not understand the intensity of the challenges that I was experiencing, the one thing that I knew to be true was that tomorrow was not promised to me, and I could not afford to bury my gifts and creative talents in the cemetery.
When you make a conscious decision to pursue your purpose and passion, you have to be prepared to endure the challenges that are associated with the journey of greatness. I wish that I could tell you that your journey will be easy, full of fun and with immediate reward. Unfortunately, that may not be your reality and I refuse to set you up to expect something that may not be an immediate reality. When you look at the lives of great individuals who have made their impact in the world, they all have a story to tell. Each individual person may have traveled a different journey, but they share the common theme of persistence, passion and a commitment to staying the course of their journey. When you discover your passion, work at it and refuse to become discouraged regardless of how frustrating your process may appear.
Remember there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. In your quest to passionately pursue your purpose you have to have a made up mind that will empower you to allow EXCELLENCE to be your brand. You have to have a made up mind to not shy back, to not silence the silent desires of your heart and you have to REFUSE to be intimidated by your own SUCCESS! You have to first believe in your dreams before anyone else will. You have to practice day and night; you have to invest the time, energy and resources needed in order to birth that baby into existence. Igniting your passion and aggressively pursuing your purpose will provide you with an opportunity to play a role in helping to change the world, but you must always remember that the choice begins and ends with you.
I would like to encourage you to continue focusing on the dreams and purpose that reside on the inside of you.
No one on earth can do what you do, in precisely the way that you do it!
-- Alexandra Franzen
Make a commitment to yourself to invest the time needed daily in an effort to work your dream, in an effort to see the manifestation of your purpose. Accept the fact that challenges will arise and obstacles will occur that may slightly delay your destiny, but you must remain focused, committed and confident that you will cross the finish line. Make an agreement with yourself that mediocrity is not an option! Remember that this is your life and only you can make and fulfill the commitment to birthing forth every dream, talent, gift, business and ability that is wrapped up inside of you.
Refuse to allow societal pressures and the opinions of others to dictate the destiny of your future. When the mountains attempt to block your view, simply walk around it and implement a new strategy to execute the plan that God has given you to passionately pursue your purpose! In the words of NIKE and in the spirit of The Entrepreneur Within You - JUST DO IT!

The JMH Leap of Faith
Julie M. Holloway
Just last year, at age 34, I finally realized that my dreams for JMH Art + Design Studio were truly sheltered and locked within me. The ‘dream’ was slowly fading further and further away while my mental state was as well. Overly consumed by absolute dismay, fear of not having a ‘job’ and feelings of mental and physical unrest, I was finally at my wit’s end. I was brutally afraid to quit my full-time executive assistant job, a field I had worked in for fifteen years, to pursue my lifelong passion of fulfilling the life of the ‘artist’ within me.
The purpose of sharing this story is not to debilitate you by the experiences that I have gone through; but to share in that we can and must conquer anything in our way of pursuing our dreams and passions.
In this case, for years I blamed my boss at the horrible job for captivating my dream to become a designer full time. However, I finally came to truth and realization that it was me I was afraid of. I allowed myself to be stuck in that situation because I did not have the strength to take the plunge! It is a process to become a self-made entrepreneur and even more so, to decide to leave a career behind you.
My goal is simply to share the experiences of how I overcame and to encourage others to follow suit. In other words, I have labeled myself the latest ‘quit coach,’ but I take no responsibility if it doesn’t work for you. I will gladly discuss my endeavor with anyone who has a dream, and when I say, dream,
I really mean DREAM BIG.
God will not bless your dream until you help someone else birth forth their dream.
