About this ebook

“I’m looking out from inside the chaos. It must be a one-way mirror because no one can see back inside where I am. The looks on their faces, the judgment in their eyes, tells me all I need to know. The most frustrating part about the whole messed up situation is that even though I’m the one that they stare at in shock, I am just as shocked as they are. I know no more than they do of why I lose control. What they don’t know is that I am more scared of myself than they could ever be.” ~ Tally Baker

After a devastating turn of events Tally Baker, 17, is admitted to Mercy Psychiatric Facility where she is diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. She has come to a place where she honestly believes that her life is over. Her mind tells her that she will never smile or laugh again, that she will never be normal again. It is in this unlikely place that she meets two people, different in every way, yet both critical to helping her realize that she has so much more living to do.

Candy, a cantankerous sixty year old patient, hell bent on driving everyone as crazy as she is, shows Tally regardless of the diagnosis the ability to go on and live her life to the fullest is her choice and hers alone. In the midst of her escapades with Candy, a new patient is admitted to Mercy and coming to visit her daily is her son, Trey Swift. At first glance it is obvious to Tally that he is Native American, incredibly handsome and unbelievably caring. But what she learns through her second glance, and many thereafter is there is much more to Trey than he ever lets on. It is on these daily visits that he and Tally build a friendship far deeper than either of them truly realize. With Trey, Tally feels for the first time since she has been admitted that she is being seen as a person and not a disease. Trey begins to make it clear that he wants more than friendship; she knows that she can never give him more. How can she when she won’t even give him the truth? She never tells Trey that she is a patient at Mercy, and she doesn't ever plan to. Her plans go up in flames when she finds out Trey is a new student at her school, the school where her brokenness was found out in the floor of the girl’s bathroom and a blade in her hand.

Call Me Crazy by Quinn Loftis was an interesting book to read. I loved the authors writing but I had time getting into the story for some reason. I am a huge fan of this type of book and this genre. I guess I found it hard to believe but I am hoping that I can read it again and get into the book the next time. In this book you follow along with Tally as she learns to love herself. You also get to know Candy and all the crazy things she does. I have to say that Candy was my favorite character in the book and always could make me smile.

FTC:I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Call Me Crazy by Quinn Loftis suffers from a split personality. I absolutely loved and was moved by Tally's struggle with being diagnosed as bipolar. Her initial breakdown, her time in the psychiatric ward, her relationship with fellow patient Candy - all of this was wonderful, including Tally's narrative voice. The mental health aspect of the book showed a lot of promise. What killed it for me, though, (and I can't believe I'm saying this) was the romance.I love a good romance, but the one between Tally and Trey just didn't work for me. I felt like Trey was too much: too "she's mine," too sure of himself...too something. I think this was an instance when being inside a character's head was not a good thing; sometimes it just isn't the right voice for a narrative. Later in the story I found myself skipping his chapters to get back to Tally - especially when she was having a therapy session! I think if I had only been able to see Trey through Tally's eyes and not gotten his inner monologue, I would have liked him more.Tally's struggle to regain and maintain her mental balance - as well as her friendship with Candy - were wonderful, though.

Love the story, but the spelling and grammar are positively atrocious.

OH MY GOD !!!! This book is the best I've read in ages. It is both hilarious (Candy is the best crazy old lady EVER) and sad. Thankfully, the romance is there, but doesn't take up the entire book, but when it does come to light, it is intense.
The plot was well thought out, the characters fun and interesting.
I nearly cried reading this book, which is saying something, considering I don't cry much.
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading, and advise you to check out the Grey Wolves series, also by Quinn Loftis. They deserve five stars as well. Six if that were available.
