      Introduction

      Social media has become an important tool for companies and bloggers to use to increase the traffic to their websites. In the past posting updates on sites like Facebook and Twitter and saying just the right thing to interest potential readers was pretty standard. Everyone did it.

      Then, a few years ago, along came Pinterest and it changed social media forever. Now people could connect over the images that they found on the Internet. They could save an interesting recipe or a cute outfit to a special virtual bulletin board and share those images with their friends. Groups could all pin to the same board which meant that a company could create a board that its customers could use, thus increasing interaction between business and consumer.

      Images were the key. Images could be pinned and then other people would see those images and pin them, too. Since each image linked to the original post or page the potential for thousands of backlink and tens of thousands of visits increased each time a new person added the image to her collection.

      It’s a great concept and it does work – with one caveat. You have
