About this ebook

A dramatic life-altering out-of-body experience at the age of sixteen opened the author's mind to a new way of seeing the world. Her mother demanded that she never tell anyone about this event. Years later she felt an extremely strong urge to share it, possibly help people understand there is an incredible realm beyond our physical reality. Many other unexplainable things have also occurred, which are described in this book.

After telling friends and family members about these phenomena, they related their own fantastic events and encounters. Recorded in this book are various types of metaphysical experiences, including near-death, ghosts, up-close UFO sightings, and many other strange happenings. Some were terrifying. Some were comforting. But they were all amazing and thought provoking.

    Introduction

Is there an existence beyond this reality? Many people have wondered if there is more to this world than they are able to see with their physical eyes. They may get little glimpses that cause them to want to know more, and keep them searching for answers.

The thought of dying is extremely frightening for most people. Many will claim acceptance of the inevitable, saying they do not fear death. This cavalier attitude works best among the young. Advancing years manage to pry much of the bravado from those employing this belief. Approaching the end of one’s physical life focuses more attention on the afterward. People with life experiences suggesting that personal consciousness exists beyond the mortal body have a distinct advantage with the termination of human life.

Some may wonder if death is the end. Or, they may contemplate the possibility that consciousness, or mind, or soul survives after their body is no longer of use to them. Many who have had a near death experience report that they have no doubt about their soul being immortal, and they no longer have a fear of death.

People who have had various mind-opening, and life-altering experiences feel certain there is much more to this world than ordinary consciousness would indicate. I have had several such experiences and they have affected my entire worldview. These occurrences have also caused me to take a closer look at the things I was taught as I was growing up.

It was necessary for many years to pass before I was willing to share my first unusual experience. It happened when I was sixteen. Many other out-of-the-ordinary things occurred over the years. But one was so strange that I felt people would think I was hallucinating, or had made it up, so it took many more years for me to be able to tell about that.

I can understand why people are hesitant to reveal extraordinary events. They don’t want to be thought of as weird, or perhaps even psychotic. Or, heaven forbid, lying. For some reason, I am no longer concerned about any of that. Whether others believe me or not, I know it is true. Therefore, when other people earnestly tell me about their seemingly unbelievable experiences, I usually have no reason to doubt them.

There are so many things about this incredibly wonderful existence that we know absolutely nothing about. Scientists will think they have some things about the physical world figured out, but then they realize there is so much more to learn. Beliefs that were thought to be certain in the past have been proven wrong: no, the sun does not go around the earth; and no, the earth is not flat – even though those ideas were believed to be absolute facts long ago.

The unseen metaphysical world is an even greater mystery. If it can’t be seen or understood, many simply deny the possibility of its existence. But, once something profound has happened to you, it is not so easy to ignore it. Or dismiss it.

And, after getting that glimpse, no matter how small it may be, a door in your mind is cracked open and light enters to modify thinking and provide inroads to perceptions and ideas that may very well alter your life forever.

There are numerous events that fall into this category: near-death experience, out-of-body experience and astral projection; reincarnation; clairvoyance (including remote viewing which the government has been involved with for decades); dowsing – for water, metal deposits, oil, or anything a person is trying to locate; telekinesis (moving objects using only the mind); observing auras or energy fields; prophetic dreaming; psychometry (gleaning information from objects); channeling (including automatic writing); ESP (extra sensory perception – hearing other’s thoughts for instance); psychic ability; ET’s, UFO’s, crop circles; invisible playmates; orbs (which sometimes appear in photographs as well as elsewhere); using the power of crystals; Ouija boards, table raising; angels, spirits, ghosts. The list goes on and on. There are so many aspects of these amazing phenomena.

One friend told me she rarely tells anyone about her UFO sighting because of the way some people have reacted. They might not actually laugh at her story, but she can see the disbelief in their eyes. To experience that response when sharing something that has been perhaps frightening and/or life changing is not pleasant, at all. Her story is included in this book. There are also many other types of experiences friends and family members have shared with me.

Fear is probably the main reason many people refuse to even consider some of the metaphysical qualities of the world. Rather than fearful, I am fascinated and curious.

If people never look more deeply into the things they were told their entire lives, progress would be impossible, and nothing new would be learned. Great discoveries were the result of questioning accepted beliefs. Albert Einstein was one of the greatest questioners of all, and I have read he was also one of the greatest metaphysicians. We all need to open our eyes to the possibilities.

    Chapter One

    Out-of-Body, and Near-Death Experiences

There have been many documented and verified cases of people being declared clinically dead, then coming back to life. Sometimes they report extraordinary experiences while they were gone. They might tell about feeling a wonderful peacefulness. Or of being surrounded by a love more glorious than they could have imagined. And in some cases they were met by loved ones on the other side. Many children who have been resuscitated have given very similar stories about things or people they have seen while they were dead.

Sometimes a person with a terminal disease is cured after this experience. One such case was Anita Moorjani. Her doctors have given documentation for her claims, and Wayne Dyer has had her appear with him on stage to tell her story. In a short video on the internet she told about being in a coma after having cancer for some time, her family having been told she had only hours to live. But later she told her husband and her doctor, word for word, about a conversation they had while she was unconscious, even though they were down the hall away from her room.

She died, and went to the other side, where she was enveloped in love by relatives who had passed on. They told her she could not go beyond a certain point or she would not be able to return to her body. She didn’t want to return to the pain, but they let her know everything would be all right. After she came back, she healed completely. She wrote about her experience and the effects it had on her in the book Dying To Be Me.

I have read that people who have had a near-death experience are forever changed in their feelings about dying. They lose their fear.

There is also the out-of-body experience where a person leaves the body without dying. For some, it happens spontaneously, perhaps only once. But a few people have learned how to leave and return any time they want. In Ultimate Journey, Robert A. Monroe gives detailed information about the numerous times he purposely left his body.

For many, the fact that a person can leave their body, and then re-enter it, is proof that death is not the end. We are not our bodies. We are only using them.

And, a large number of people around the world believe we live many lives. In countries where that idea is accepted, there have been verified reports of children who told their parents that they had other parents. They were able to remember enough details about their former lives that the previous parents were located. Often these previous lives are remembered through hypnosis and regression.

My Out Of Body Experience – 1954

My father had died a few months previously. My mother never learned to drive a car, so a friend from church had taken her grocery shopping. I was sixteen, home by myself, sitting at the kitchen table.

Suddenly, without even a hint of a forewarning that it was going to happen, I was looking at the earth. I was seeing more than just a small patch of the earth.

In this incredible and intensely brilliant panorama, I was seeing a huge area and everything on it in the same instant. I seemed to be in space, and with vision from many perspectives and angles simultaneously.

I was bewildered and I remember wondering, as it was happening, how that was possible. After what seemed like only a moment, I was aware of being back in my chair.

Then immediately I was back out there, but this time I was seeing people all over the earth who were suffering in some way, and I felt their pain. Then, zip, I was back again!

Never having heard about out-of-body experiences, I had no idea what had happened, and I certainly was not trying to project my consciousness or leave my body.

As soon as my mother got home, I ran to tell her. I was confused, but excited, as I told her what I had seen. I don’t know what I expected her to say, but what she said, and the way she said it, made me feel she thought there was something terribly wrong with me.

She got a strange look on her face and told me in a serious tone, Don’t ever tell anyone about that, ever! She did not explain why. Maybe she was afraid of what other people would think.

I don’t know what her feelings were because we never discussed it again. Whatever her reason, she convinced me I should never talk about it.

She had been raised in a rigid religious atmosphere and that may have been part of the reason for her fear. However, she later did tell me about something that happened with her.

My father and two oldest brothers Leon and Red were out on the ranch on horseback. Something spooked Red’s horse and it threw him to the ground, injuring his hip.

Mom said she knew the moment it happened, even though they were miles away. Evidently it is fairly common for some mothers to have that mental connection with their children. Several other members of my family have also had unusual experiences.

I never told anyone about my unexplainable happening. Not my friends, not even my husband Jerry during fifteen years of marriage. It was not until I was older that I realized how much it has affected my entire life, and made me much more open to new ways of thinking than I would have been.

As I matured, it made me look more closely at beliefs I had previously accepted as absolute. The experience caused me later to consider new possibilities that I previously would have considered anathema. It changed my life.

Tragedies around the world affect me deeply. I love this country, but I do not feel we are separate from all the other peoples on this wonderful beautiful globe. I sign every petition I find that points toward peace, or protection of the earth. Since I am not wealthy, that is my contribution.
