The Insider's Guide To Makeup Application - Tracey Tischler
INTRODUCTION
I have been doing makeup for a long time, even before I received my esthetician’s license and started working professionally as a makeup artist. In my professional career as a makeup artist, I have been asked so many times about how to apply makeup. I have a lot of makeup books that I love to read because it’s what I’m interested in but for most women, they just want to know what they need to do and how to do it to look their best. That’s where the idea of this book came. It sets out what you need to know in a simple, easy to follow, way.
There are factors in how your makeup can look the best for you and, once you know them, it’s easy. Your skin, face shape, eyebrow shape, eye shape (and best eyeshadow color for your eye color), hair style and glass style (if you wear them) can all factor in to how to look your best. First things first, let’s start with your skin, the foundation for it all.
SKIN
Skin is a very personal subject to me and it’s the reason I started using makeup. When I was in high school, I had cystic acne. I can tell you there were days I told my mom I wasn’t going to school because I was so embarrassed and ashamed because of my skin. It made me hide who I really was because I wasn’t confident enough to look someone in the eye when I talked to them because I always thought they were looking at my bad skin. I started using makeup to try and hide my acne but, in the end, it really just ended up looking like a mask and making it look worse. That was back in the 80s when Accutane had first come out. I had tried everything else and finally my dermatologist let me go on Accutane. I was so happy I even thought about writing him a letter professing my thanks when I got through with the treatment. The treatment itself wasn’t easy to get through, but it was well worth
