About this ebook

What is reality you may ask yourself. Is it what others have said it must be? Or would you choose to think out for yourself what this life, which is all you have, really means? Could it be that reality is something completely different than you thought it was? If the world seems much more complicated than it ought to be, is it possible there is a simpler, more logical way it works? The True Descent of Man is presented to show a simpler alternative thought to the meaning of life. It will show fallacies we thought were true but are not and how our minds trick us into believing what is not true, is.

Sandy Grissom

Sandy Grissom has loved books all her life. That love began by listening to her older sister read when she was still too young to discover the magic for herself. She's read everything from history to the phone book but her favorite authors are James Michener, Agatha Christie and the mystic William Blake. Over the years, romantic novels became a favorite. The top of that list is Pride and Prejudice. When she retired she had too much time on her hands and spent too much money and trips to the library to get books in order to satisfy her restless soul. It was then she began to write herself. As an adult she held a variety of jobs, all of them grist for her imaginative mind. The occupations in Choppy Waters will hopefully inspire someone to fight for their own dreams, to never give up on themselves or on love. A widow, Sandy recently moved to southern Indiana where she lives near the younger of her two beloved sisters.

    The Problem

The world has been turned upside down and inside out. Over is under and under is over. Yet most of us who live on Planet Earth have no revelation of this. Unless, that is, we understand our beginning. I know that we live in a time when we are indoctrinated with the belief that man is nothing but a mass of protoplasm, an ‘accident’ of nature. Yet at the same time we are we are told that we are the smartest people who have ever lived. I must tell you that you cannot have it both ways. We are either brilliant thinkers OR we are something that crawled out of the goo and just think we’re smart.

I will explain why this is so as you read on. But you will also learn that we are neither of those things. Not an accident of nature nor the smartest people who ever lived. If this sounds counter to all you’ve been taught, please read on. To explain my logic, I must go back to the beginning, to creation. Please do not cast this writing aside because you think you see what is coming. Instead, I beg that you would continue with an open mind and heart. For you may be surprised at what I have to tell you. So we begin.

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. I will not go into detail about that except to say that once He completed a place where man could survive, He formed a man from the elements on that earth. Then later He made a woman to be a help to the man. God knew the man couldn’t do all he was capable of doing alone. He needed a partner who together they would subdue the earth and fill it with children like themselves. God could have created all the people to fill the earth but He had His reasons for creating a couple to populate it. We must not forget that God always has a purpose for what He does though that purpose may not always be apparent to His people.

The original world where the first man, Adam, lived was quite different from today’s world. It was a place where the natural and the supernatural coexisted together. The physical and the spiritual cohabited quite peacefully, though exactly how this was none of us can quite understand. We have not lived in such a way so we can only speculate about how it was. You might say that the original couple walked mostly in the spiritual world with one foot in the physical realm. That is, they were ruled by their clean, sinless spirits while walking in the physical realm.

They lived in what the One New Man Bible calls shalom. It is translated in our Bibles as peace but it doesn’t just mean peace as we think of it. It means to be complete. The word encompasses tranquility, justice, sufficiency of everything (food, clothing, and housing, for example). It also includes Divine health without sickness. It is the opposite of Ra (usually translated evil or bad) but which accurately means disorder, injustice, bribery, corruption, conflict, lack, hatred, abuse, violence, pain, suffering, immorality and all other negative forces. It means chaos rather than order. I think it’s very interesting that Egypt’s sun god was named Ra. An act of rebellion perhaps?

At any rate, when Adam and Eve committed treason against God, they caused a monumental change in the original world setup. They were beguiled into it but that didn’t matter. They committed treason against their Creator in a way so horrendous it caused a falling away from Him that is quite unimaginable and certainly immeasurable in our minds. They didn’t sin against themselves or each other. They acted in complete betrayal contrary to God’s instruction. But it was more than the simple sin as we think of sin. It was a willful act that was done intentionally. They knew better and that made it all the worse.

They may have thought they had good reason for listening to Satan, the deceiver. He reminded them of something available to them but that God said they must not partake of. Something Satan said they could have. It was right there like all the rest of the fruit in the garden. Surely they were meant to eat it, too. The couple was at least momentarily blinded to all they did have while they meditated on the one thing they should not have.

Satan, the Bible says, is wily or tricky. He used argumentative language to confuse the couple and in doing so to beguile them into disobedience. We don’t know how long he tempted the couple. We only know they changed their allegiance from God to Satan with that act of disobedience. They aggressively moved away from God when they committed treason against their loving Creator.

In that moment as Satan knew would happen, Adam and Eve changed into something they hadn’t been before. Everything around them changed, too. Now they lived in the physical realm with one foot in the spiritual realm. The repercussions of that change not only distanced them from God but that distancing was carried down to all the generations that has come after them. Even the animals and plants were changed. Weeds, literally and figuratively, came into being so we know that the earth itself was changed with the rebellion against its Creator. Even love which couldn’t exist but for God was soon reduced to mere lust. Man’s selflessness nature changed into a selfish mode.

Lucifer was the first to commit treason against God. He wanted and tried to be God. When his plan was thwarted, he set up his own anti-god kingdom. While God is good, Lucifer, now called Satan for he lost his heavenly name, is evil. Satan is the opposite of God in every way. It was he who tricked naïve Adam and Eve for he knew what their disobedience would do. You see God had given the earth to Adam to rule over. By obeying Satan instead of God, Adam, whether he understood it or not, turned earthly authority over to the devil. All people born after that then lived under Satan’s rule.

Isaiah, a prophet of God, was given the story of Satan’s fall. He wrote it down for the people so they would understand what happened in the true reality, the one outside their physical realm. You will find it in Isaiah, Chapter 14.

"How you have fallen from heaven, O shining son of the dawn! How you, who did weaken the nations, are cut down to the ground."

Satan was cast down to earth so that he no longer lives in God’s realm but is imprisoned, though he’d not have us learn the truth of it, in a lower realm than God. He is called the prince of the power of the air. In other words, he is made so much lower than God and in such a way that his future is obvious to him every moment. That, like his original fall must fill him with hatred for God as well as for God’s creation, man. Satan is not within the time constraints we are but he is also fallen from heaven. Just as man fell from his original position with God.

God, of course, lives outside of time since time was just one of His creations. Time was necessary for man to understand the cause and effect world he lives in. More about that later. For now understand that God can look down and see all the people at once, those who (to Him) are alive from the beginning of his creation to those at the end of time. Those who to us are not yet born! It is simply a part of that supernatural realm that most of us are so unaware of. It is something our brains may struggle with but it is true nonetheless.

God did it that way so that we can be free to do what we choose, follow Him or not. A God Who is Love could not accept any kind of love other than one freely given. At any rate, that is why He knows our end. He can see it from where He exists outside of time. He can also see any changes our decisions create and thus a new end for us. I understand that, like so many other supernatural things, that concept is a difficult one
