      Mild spoilers.
      Beauty and the Beast meets Twilight. But not really in a cute way.
      Nothing happens for like years and then things happen and it's finally interesting. I never expect her books to be literary works of art, just very entertaining. This one wasn't that entertaining. The main romance is so confusing and kind of stupid. I still read it and I'm still reading the series so i don't feel like this book was a waste of time or anything. The last several chapters finally get interesting and the second book is much more entertaining so far.

      But like I said...

      Stockholm syndrome.

      This was one of the most beautiful books I have ever read. The writing was eloquent, and poetic, the plot will keep you turning pages like a crazy person, the romance was hot, lovely, beautiful. One thing that I really liked was the Sarah J. Maas didn't get carried away with the romance and forget to develop a world, 3-D characters, and a story. She was able to add so much depth and create a world while still having enough time for a tear-jerking, smoking romance.

      Just finished this book for the first time and I am stunned and ready to start reading the next one.

      Sometimes with authors I can really pinpoint the plot turns and twists and overarching sequence of events that needs to happen. I REALLY appreciated the fact that Sarah went above and beyond when it came to making this story more of a puzzle and concealing so well the plot twists.

      Also the depth of the story was wonderfully skilled, intriguing and feeling. It’s been awhile since I’ve read a work as skilled as this and I’m at 22 books read this year (a slow year...)

      The last thing I wanted to comment on were those more adult scenes... I came into this book thinking it was a YA novel, that being said, I didn’t expect some of the more delicious adrenaline spiking moments that were also written cleverly and with class.

      There’s just not enough praise for this author and I’m so glad there’s so much MORE to read from her!

      This book is a page turner! The writing is captivating, the world's fascinating, and the characters relatable. My one critique is it's a little hard to believe the progression of the main characters' romance.

      I haven't found a book I could really get into in a long while, but this page had me immersed from day 1. I started reading this morning, and just finished I am beyond excited to read this entire series and anything else written by the same author.
