Bouncing Back From Adversity to Success - Harry Jay
Introduction – Hunting is for fools who have never heard about bait!
Now, I will readily admit that the adage above is one I use quite often and for a variety of circumstances too. It is without a doubt the truest adage I have ever uttered and it simply applies to many things.
In the case of bouncing back from adversity to success, it applies to the manner in which people seek success…they hunt it instead of baiting it. And as any hunter will tell you – both human and animal – most hunts end in failure.
Now I will explain what I mean by the above statement as I go along in this book. In fact, this whole book is dedicated to explaining why people fail in the hunt for success but do quite well baiting it. By hunting it, people generally fail and the results of which can be manifested in despair, depression, lack of self worth and more.
The staff authors to our mind research group called AppliedMindSciences.com http://appliedmindsciences.com have written steadily about the human condition. In the following books, both our staff authors and I have taught everything from how the mind works and functions to the causes and reasons for just about every problem facing mankind today. The titles pretty much speak for themselves; I suggest you get some of these books so that you can fill-in the blank spots that this book does not address.

As a behavioral scientist, my 31-year career has witnessed some of the most broken humanity that you can imagine. Everything from criminal serial killers to people that have simply just given up on life, relationships, love and more.
With the state of the economy and unemployment being at disastrous levels today, more and more people are falling victim to adversity, poverty, and hardships of all types. Many don’t know what to do; they don’t even know where to start.
With most people falling prey to adversity, I decided to write this book to demonstrate that a person can bounce back and the steps necessary to accomplish this quickly. It doesn’t involve money; money is an effect, the cause of which is following the principles I outline in this book.
The world is full of broken people; people looking for value and worth in their lives as their retirement accounts evaporate and their assets decline. It is no wonder that crime is on the increase and the national suicide rate is at epidemic proportions. However; crime is increasing in poor states and decreasing in richer states:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_in_the_United_States#cite_note-Donohue_69-7
Cyber-crime is up over 500% since the 1990s. Suicide rates are highest among the age group 20-24.
http://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/publications/suicide-in-the-us-statistics-and-prevention/index.shtml
According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention suicide has been increasing since 2000 and is increasing at alarming rates:
http://www.afsp.org/index.cfm?page_id=04ea1254-bd31-1fa3-c549d77e6ca6aa37
"The latest data available from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: http://www.cdc.gov/ViolencePrevention/suicide/index.html indicates that 36,909 suicide deaths were reported in the U.S. in 2009. This latest rise places suicide again as the tenth leading cause of death in the U.S. Nationally, the suicide rate increased 2.4 percent over 2008 to equal approximately 12.0 suicides per 100,000 people. The rate of suicide has been increasing since 2000. This is the highest rate of suicide in fifteen years."
But one enormous problem rears its ugly head and candidly, Albert Einstein said it best, "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."
People fail; this is a given, but upon failing and attempting to bounce back by employing the same things that caused failure in the first place is truly insanity!!!
And people do this all of the time!
Another problem is prevalent in failure’s mindset – BLAME! Blame is a useless concept because it takes accountability away from the person and places it elsewhere.
In my book, Blame Me Not,
I address extensively this problem by presenting real life stories from my case files. Looking from the outside in, people can easily see the mistakes and results of blame and my intention was to massively demonstrate just how damaging blame has become. The failure began with You and the comeback will begin with YOU also!
The next problem is called SACRIFICE! Unless a person is willing to sacrifice in order to gain, the failures will increase.
DOSBook.jpgIn the book, The Denial of Self,
I demonstrate the amazing concept called Give to Get
and I will address this more detail in one of the chapters in this book.
There is one underlying point I want my readers to embrace for this book, " It has become appallingly obvious that our technology has exceeded our humanity and that we have
