      CHAPTER ONE: ALL YOU CAN READ, FREE!

      Welcome to Find Free Kindle Books, your detailed and informative source where you can find tens of thousands of free books for your Kindle Fire.  A common misconception that exists states that if you own a Kindle Fire, you are limited to purchasing all of your content from Amazon.  In actuality, this is definitely not the case.  At its heart, Amazon's Kindle Fire is a tablet computer that runs the popular Android operating system.  And as with all tablets running Android, you can copy e-book files in acceptable formats to your Kindle Fire, and you can then read those books on the Kindle Fire.  The customized user interface that makes the Kindle Fire appear so visually different than a typical Android tablet does provide its own minor challenges when it comes to copying e-books from other sources.  However, these challenges are minor, and the next chapter of this book gives you detailed step-by-step directions that you'll need as part of the process.

      Four ways to free books

      In this book, you'll learn of four major methods of getting free books onto your Kindle Fire.  There are other methods besides these four, and some of the additional methods add layers of technical complexity to the process.  The four that are mentioned here have been proven successful by thousands of Kindle Fire owners.  The four methods are as follows:

      (1) Purchase free books from the Kindle store on the Amazon website.  No, this is not a misprint.  While the Amazon site may consider all transactions as a purchase, on any given day at any point in time there are thousands of free books available at the Amazon website.  Finding these freebies by category is a simple matter if you know the secrets of some little known web links, and these secrets will be revealed at the start of chapter 3.

      (2) Transfer free books (and other content) from your computer to your Kindle Fire using the micro USB cord that came with your
