The Alien Visits - Giselle Lee
Chapter 1
My Hopes are High,
My Money is Low
They said that there will be high winds. It was a sure thing. It was pushing down from the tip of the mountain tops into the valleys and splitting between the wooded trees. The mountain of Mindu was always breezy, not too strong, but cool. Iru, a small boy in size, sat on his front steps, pulling his jacket tight. He was getting a little chilly, but he couldn’t wait to meet his new friend. He didn’t care if he had to freeze. He hoped that nothing would stop his friend from coming. All he could think about was what he was going to do when his friend finally reaches.
First, I’ll go to the amusement park. He’ll love that...
Iru whispered to himself. Oh, I can’t wait,
he thought. The amusement park has lots of rides. There was the drop ride, where people stood on top of the plateau and swung down into the enclosed lake. You could swim all the way down to the bottom of the lake into a bunch of tunnels that lead you into the beachside sea. And then there was the Attack Zone, where you choose your weapon and your enemy, the best and closest real life combat game. Then you fight until you bring your enemy down off his feet. The greatest part about that game is the weapons. There was a laser kind of sword that went through your enemy. It wasn't real, but the effects make it look real. The laser sword had a special effect where it showed red blood color on it when you cut someone. It was the coolest thing ever.
Iru was too excited. He wanted to know whether his parents were going to take them to all the places he wanted to go. He ran inside into the kitchen where his mother was preparing a snack.
Mother. Can we go to the wild park? Can we go to the amusement park too?
Iru asked.
Iru
. His mother was getting irritated. She had already told him that they had to wait to speak to the little boy's parents. She told him that they couldn't plan anything yet.
Mommy, please.
Iru said. His mother was about to interrupt him, but decided not to. Mother, what about the racing track or Star Central? He said.
We can go there. Can't we?" Iru begged.
I don't know Iru.
His mother replied. She knew Iru was anxious.
I betcha he never saw the animals that we have at the wild park.
Iru said. The wild park was like a zoo, except the animals weren't caged in. They were on open land, living freely. The more aggressive animals were sectioned off. The sightseers were able to walk through where the friendly animals were with a trained park guide.
We can touch some of them. And maybe ride them!
Iru said with excitement.
Iru, please. You know you cannot ride any of them. You're going too far.
His mother said.
Yes, we can. I heard that Moibee rode a winged.
Iru said. Moibee was one of his friends from school. Iru believed everything that Moibee said, even though he lied to make himself look good. The winged creatures that Moibee said he rode was large, dinosaurish, and weren't very friendly. So it was far from truth that he actually rode one. They barely wanted to be bothered outside of their own.
Iru, I doubt that Moibee is telling the truth. I told you that Moibee has an active imagination. Why do you believe him?
His mother asked.
He's telling the truth. You don't know.
Iru said in defense for Moibee.
What animal would allow Moibee to ride it? He's kind of stout, don't you think?
His mother giggled. Iru laughed as well. He realized that his mother may be telling the truth. Moibee was thick and very heavy; not fat but muscular. It would probably be difficult for him to ride a winged creature, but not impossible. There were some winged animals that were large as a small taxi mobile. The Zimba was a large winged that was friendly enough to touch. It only ate plants and only got aggressive when it had to defend itself. Their mouth was large and wide. You can actually put your entire head in one. Their claws were long and narrow. They used it to grasp the smallest fruit or nuts it could find. The most scariest part about a Zimba is its eyes. Their eyes are rimmed red with a deep golden yellow inside. They are frightful to look at.
Maybe so, mother. But we will still have lots of fun at the park.
Iru said.
I think no matter what you do, you will have fun. You're too excited not to have any fun.
His mother said.
And Star Central would be great too.
Iru said. He could just imagine meeting all of the stars and getting all of their autographs. He thought maybe it wouldn't matter to his visitor, but he wanted them for himself. It would be a good excuse to go to Star Central. His mother couldn't turn away any new adventures for his guest. Can she?
Star Central? Why Star Central? I don't know why people focus on meeting people of that pretend land.
Iru's mother said.
They're not pretend people. Some of them are real, mother.
Iru insisted. He thought that some of the shows were actually real, while others can clearly be seen as fake. He wanted to ask them about what was really happening in their lives. He wanted to ask Dutch, the policeman, on As it Shifts
, if he would kill the shape shifter that he was hunting.
I think Dutch is going to capture the shape shifter.
Iru said. He wanted to be Dutch's assistant. He had a great plan to capture the shape shifter. If only his mother would take him to see Dutch, there would
