      Introduction

      Detecting deception and lying is both a science and art. All people lie at one time or another whether it be at work, home, or with strangers they meet on the street. This is not to say they are doing this intentionally to be dishonest or deceitful it's just a matter of human nature to conceal or distort the truth to enhance or protect one's image.

      There is however those who intentionally a attempt to deceive and mislead those they are talking to. This ranges from the bedroom, business negotiations, to con artists attempting to scam the innocent. This book will go over the many ways people lie and what the investigator or questioner need to understand in order to better be able to obtain information in this very different world of the 21st century.

      This book also covers deceptions in the context of   romantic relationships. To help you determine if your partner is cheating, lying application of  deception technologies for purposes of seduction - hiding their interest/attraction towards you, that they are deliberately trying to game or seduce you etc. Its hard enough to detect signs of attraction- but when he/she actually tries to conceal it? Or she denies it when confronted? This book will help you solve that predicament.

      The last section drills down the subtleties of verbal communications to allow you to see that invisible space of analog markings and such, where deception can clearly be perceived, if you operate or perceive that level.

      Body Language

      People often say the eyes of the doorway to the soul and in many cases this is true. Now it is a fad to hold Eye Gazing parties were people stare intently into the eyes of another and this supposedly creates a deep rapport and understand it.

      NLP uses eye cues to attempt to elicit information as well as discovery of deceit. This however, is not a reliable method to catch liars. There's a saying "a shifty eyed person is lying". Habitual liars also read and study NLP to make their lies more effective. Therefore, a liar may be more likely to look you straight in the eye while giving a false information to you.

      Anxiety about telling the truth is believed to be the cause behind the shifting of the eyes. Likewise the use of body language ie... The closed posture as it is called can easily be defeated by anyone who practices Yoga or the martial arts. where you are trained to relax at a deep level.

      The other problem with body languages is that is context. Various ethnic groups and cultures use body language naturally in a different manner from each other. In the TV series Lie to Me which is based on the work of Paul Ekman. who claims that micro expressions are a universal language and these indicators are used by all cultural groups. However it does not take into account for either a trained liar or the fact people are not normally fast enough to catch them. It required Dr. Ekman many years to develop the skill.
