About this ebook
The Tower of Babel is a well-known story from the Jewish scriptures that relates the story of how men angered God and as a result the confusion of human languages was brought into being. Yet what if the story was told by ancient women? How would the story differ? This is an attempt to re-imagine the story from a female perspective. This is neither history nor theology. This is humour with a political edge.
This novel is dedicated to the memory of the crusading immigration lawyer Sonia Burgess, whose 2010 murder led the project to be abandoned. The novel had been finished as this is the 2010 novel with some minor tidying up.
Mercia McMahon
Mercia McMahon is writer of literary fiction and non-literary non-fiction. She was born, bred and battered in Belfast, but now lives in London, when not travelling to research a book. Mercia's fiction work is sometimes darkly serious, sometimes quirky, sometimes serious and quirky and always deeply political. She writes in a lyrical literary style and likes to defy literary conventions. Although sometimes she defies her own conventions by writing in a conventional style.
