About this ebook
The Encyclopedia of the Lacharité, Lampron, and Desfossés Families in North America is a genealogical study of the descendants of Jehan Laspron dit Lacharité and his wife Marie Anne Michelle Renaud. This first book, Volume 1-History, contains the background to the research on Jehan Jaspron (aka Jean Lampron dit Lacharité) and includes the early history of La Charité-sur-Loire, the early settlement of Québec, and the first two generations of the European branch of the family tree beginning in 1570. It is a complete and necessary primer for all researchers that claim Jean Lampron dit Lacharité as their ancestor.
Richard Lacharite
I joined the Canadian Army when I was 17 and after 38 years of service I retired to enjoy other exploits. During those 38 years I lived in Europe twice and in the United States once, and have travelled extensively to many countries in the world. On retirement I pursued my many hobbies and interests and found that there not enough hours in the day to do them all. One of my favorite pursuits is genealogical research which I have been doing for more than thirty years. However, it is an inclement weather hobby that I do in the fall, winter, and spring. For years I was an avid cyclist and racked-up enough miles to circle the globe at least three times. I am an avid builder and like to build fine furniture but have also built recumbent bikes. My friends see me as a mister fix-it because there seems to be no limit to the things that I can build or repair - and my workshop reflects those interests. My degree was in mathematics and physics, but I have always had an interest in scientific inquiry of all types. I was an early adopter of computer technology and learned to program to support my genealogy interests (and for work also). Throughout my life, I have written numerous documents, two other books which I have since taken out of print (in favor of the Encyclopedia), and a number of articles that have been published. I have a strong political science background and am committed to political evolution. In brief, I have numerous interests and try to give them all a bit of my time. However, as I age the commitment to publishing the results of my research has grown stronger. I have an extensive website (https://gen.lacharite.ca) that showcases the facts and supporting documentation and citations of my research. However, when I die I expect the website will go with me and I would be a terrible waste of all that research time and effort. Hence the writing and publication of the Encyclopedia. I hope you enjoy the books that I have and will continue to publish. I believe there are the best quality product that you will find anywhere given the scope of the project. The sales of my book go to help defer some of my research costs so please buy my books.
