When Weight Watchers® began the program of using points to count the diet value of foods in 1997, the company knew that changes would have to be made to the program in the future. With scientific research about dieting constantly emerging and new foods hitting the markets annually, the ingredients and preparation methods of recipes had to change. In accordance with these trends, Weight Watchers® adjusted the way points were calculated. The recipes in this report reflect all those changes by incorporating a new value scale and some new ingredients.
We have included recipes that run the gamut from appetizers to desserts and favorites in between. No longer are many of the favorite foods restricted, because the dieter counts points “plus” in order to include such foods. Ice cream, breads, some starchy vegetables and fried foods are now allowed - they just count for more used points.
Although you have to pay attention to the points of each dish, we’ve made that easy for you by listing them for you, based on current Weight Watchers guidelines. All the recipes are suitable for the dieter and those who may be sharing the meal. It is hard to believe that some of these dishes are actually “diet food.”
