About this ebook

A sexy new standalone contemporary romance by NYT and USA Today bestselling author Katy Evans.

He wasn't always this rich. This hot. This difficult.
Aaric Christos was a guy who protected me. Wanted me. Maybe even loved me.
That man is gone.
In his place is the most powerful real estate tycoon in the city.
He's a cold, ruthless, aggressive businessman.
The only one who can save me and my startup from ruin.
It takes every ounce of courage to put my pride aside and ask for his help.
I didn't expect him to offer it easily.
And he doesn't.
Instead, he vets me harder than he's vetted anyone.
Don't invest in what you don't know, he says.
He's assessing every piece of me, to the point I've never felt so bare.
I yearn for the boy I once knew, whose touch once craved me.
Putting it all on the line will be worth it, I tell myself.
Until I realize—too late—that some risks are not worth taking.

3.5 "Invest in Me" Stars for the story and 4.5 stars for the narration!Tycoon is the perfect summer beach read. It's a light and fairly predictable, second chance romance but you will find yourself rooting for the hero and the heroine anyway. One unique aspect I enjoyed of this story was the entrepreneur/venture capital investment angle of the story. Additionally, the expert dual narration by Elizabeth Louise and Sebastian York make this a great title to experience in audiobook format. In high school, Aaric Christos had a crush on Brynn Kelly. However, Brynn didn't want to ruin their friendship and therefore never encouraged anything beyond friendship to develop between them. Today Aaric is a successful self-made entrepreneur who invests in start-up businesses and Brynn's family fortune has evaporated when their clothing store chain went bankrupt. Brynn, however, has an idea for a virtual personal shopper assistant clothing based business, but no funds to get her idea started. So, she decides to pitch her idea to Aaric, who she hasn't seen in years, to see if he will invest seed money in her venture to get it started.Aaric is now at the stage in his life where he's ready to get married and start a family and is dating a socialite who fits this picture perfectly. However, when Brynn walks into his office and pitches her idea he begins to feel old feelings stir. Will Aaric invest in Brynn's business? Moreover, even if he does, what does this mean for their personal relationship? Will Brynn be interested in exploring what she once never even started? Is it even possible if they become business partners? Moreover, what about Aaric's existing relationship? Most of this audiobook is told from Brynn's perspective--thus 3/4 or more of the book is narrated by Elizabeth Louise with Sebastian York popping up intermittently to give us Aaric's perspective. This style works generally well to highlight the different point of views being shared.I'm a long time fan of Elizabeth Louise's narrations so I enjoyed her rendition. She has the perfect youthful voice to bring Brynn to life. Moreover, she appropriately deepens her delivery sufficiently to render a convincing Aaric in the dialogues that occur in chapters told from Brynn's perspective.Sebastian York is always a hit for me too. His sexy, baritone voice is a great way to bring just about any hero to life. Perhaps my only wish was that we would have heard more of Mr. York! All in all, this is a book that can be enjoyed while engaging in other activities--like your summer beach time. Not too taxing in the concentration department but you will no doubt still be happy to see the romance flourish in the end!Source: Review copy provided for review purposes.
