Although Matty's art teacher has warned him that too much glue never dries, Matty loves glue. After all, he and his dad make oodles of glue projects at home. One day during art class, Matty finds the fullest bottles of glue, and the fun begins. With a squeeze and a plop, Matty pours a lake of glue before belly-flopping right in the middle and finds himself stuck to the desk. When Matty's dad arrives at the school, instead of being mad, he celebrates his son's creativity and calls him a work of art. With vibrant language and artwork and a wild, silly plot, Too Much Glue is sure to appeal to all children who love to get messy.

Matty is warned by his teacher not to use too much glue, but he doesn't listen. He uses too much & gets glued to the table while in school. His classmates try to get him unstuck while the teacher hyper-ventilates.The nurse come in to try & help. The principal comes in, but still no luck. then Matty's dad comes him & declares Matty an art masterpiece with all the yarn, Lego blocks, and glue. Matty & his dad arrive at home & his dad gets him out of the glue suit and everyone is at happy at home. Matty just needs to use tape instead of glue:)

I had mixed feelings about this book after reading it. I liked the book because of it's descriptive language and repetitive patterns. Throughout the story, Matty and his classmates are attempting to undo his sticky mess. After each attempt has failed, the author mentions the previous attempt. After the fourth attempt, we begin to see a funny repetitive rhythm being presented. However, I didn't like this book because off it messy appeals. This story may push readers to do some drastic crafty things. For example, the story is centered around Matty and how he has been stuck laying in glue. Although this is one message, I believe the bigger picture to this story is to always be creative and think outside the box. Even though Matty's action were not responsible, not once did he ever get in trouble. For example, when the principal came in to see the situation, he left a simple note "try tape next time".

This picture book was a humors, realistic fiction book. I loved this book. It was funny, entertaining, and had great pictures. This book was about a boy who used too much glue in class. The teacher always warned to use "Glue raindrops, not puddles" but Matty always used "too much glue". He wasn't allowed to use a lot of glue at school, but was encouraged to use as much glue as he wanted on whatever he wanted at home. The big idea for this book was about keeping your child happy at home and encouraging your child to express themselves. This book had such a god moral to it and it made me happy at the end that the parents were so positive about their son and his crafts. This was a good book for students in 1st grade. There were some words like "squishes" and "decorations" that students may need help with.

I enjoyed reading the book “Too Much Glue” by Jason Lefebvre. One reason I enjoyed this book was because of the plot. In the story a child, Matty, is warned not to use a lot of glue. He uses too much glue on his art pieces in school and his teacher gets mad. “’Too much glue Matty! Too much glue!’ my teacher squawks.” The teacher does not know that at home Matty and his family use tons of glue, which is why he uses too much at school. The next day, Matty makes a piece of art. This time he decides to add himself to the art and gets glued to the table. Everyone tries to unstick him from the desk. After everyone tries, his dad comes and gets him unstuck. Matty’s dad explains that he is a masterpiece. The principal sends a note home asking to encourage Matty to use tape instead of glue. Him and his family then start using the tape the same way they used glue, using it to much. Another aspect of the story that I liked were the illustrations. The illustrations took up the entire page(s). The illustrations each had a lot going on it each page so the students reading or listening to the book had a lot to look at. The illustrations were also brightly colored, which would keep the students attention. The big idea of this story is to not use too much of one thing. Too much of anything is bad for you.

This book helps students understand how to use the glue. There can be excess but they should be taking risks and have fun while creating things they enjoy.
