Poetic Freedom
()
About this ebook
Poetic Freedom.
A raw, gritty, urban poetic expression with an exploration of choices we have to make at the crossroads of life. The thoughts are honest, harsh, but hopeful. A perception of the media that feeds us, the spirituality that we cling to, the expectations of the society we are a part of, and how a young man fights to decipher, decide and climb the path not easily traveled, but most strengthened.
~Excerpt from Poem THE TEST by Frank Preston
Pain and frustration the fuel for admiration
Admiring the world’s temptations till they become motivation
When the sensation of success is worn as a vest
They say he's blessed but that depends on the quest

Pain and frustration the fuel for admiration
Admiring the world’s temptations till they become motivation.
When the sensation of success is worn as a vest
They say he's blessed but that depends on the quest.
Part I
My World
ENDLESS MEDIA
Picture picture
Instagram, some scripture
I like to tweet about a better, figure on Twitter
I don't think it's that bad
It's entertaining Dad
If Jenny posts another selfie I think I'll go mad
The web is dark and cold
My mind’s in overload,
It's about to explode
Social media
It will deceive yah
If you could smoke it, we would’ve died ages ago
The curtains open
And it's time, for a show
Hmmm?
I wonder where this next ludicrous story will go
What’s on the news today
Who turned out to be gay
And then a news flash about what one person will say
A mix of political lies
To sprinkle violent crimes
A news flash sundae with ingredients to poison our minds
Some more,
He said
and she said
Another girl has been beaten
Another controversial trial about who can
and can't be mistreated
Some more,
Black and white battles
On the white cop
that shot,
the dark man in shackles
Justice unhandled
Watch some TV for the next power scandal
You can’t escape it, it’s on every channel
So now little Troy can, watch
parent controls soon, rot
now Troy’s seeing news clips
of Trayvon getting, shot
We forgot.
My, oh my
Another child has died
Not just physically
I'm talking about heart soul and mind
Guess Mom and Dad didn’t have a plan for evil’s latest design
They couldn't redefine
Too busy fighting with their own battles inside
God has cried
Life can be so grand
When will we understand
That we are the driving hand
If you don't change the course
You'll be the next stone in the sand
Why can't we go back,
Back in time
Where fun was easy to find
When you could play a game of tag
With no worries to hide
The inter .net world has died
DISCONNECTED
My name is all that I got
It’s connected to the world’s hot spot
It’s the title of my life’s plot
The world of names connected so long we forgot
Forgot what it’s like to have nothing
Forgot what it takes to work hard for something
Forgot what it’s like to play outside
Forgot what it takes to stare at the
