7.5.5 Waterproof Measures for Equipment Connectors (A) Installation Steps (to be continued in next page)

Before making the waterproof treatment, firstly clean off the dusts and dirt from the connector. Wrap the PVC insulating tape from left to right and from the bottom upward. The upper layer covers 1/2 of the lower layer. PVC insulating tape should cover the entire feeder connector so that the waterproof insulating tape will not adhere to the connector (see Figure 1).

Then wrap the waterproof insulating tape. Unfold the waterproof insulating tape, remove the release paper and paste the tape end to the point 20~50mm under the connector (with the gelatinous layer inward) (see Figure 2). Stretch the waterproof insulating tape evenly to make its width shrink to 75%~50% of the original width and keep certain elasticity. Wrap the connector from left to right and from the bottom upward. The upper layer covers 1/2 of the lower layer (see Figure 3). When the waterproof insulating tape reaches 20~50mm above the connector, wrap from the top downward to 20~50mm beneath the connector in the same way, and finally wrap from the bottom upward again. Therefore, 3 layers of waterproof insulating tape are required (see Figure 4 and 5). (to be continued in next page) Key Points and Precautions

Trim the core wires with a wire stripper or some other tool and leave about 14mm outside the sheath. Arrange them in the correct order. Insert the core wires into the RJ45 connector pins and push them against the inner end of the RJ45 connector (see Figure 3). Check if every wire is in the correct position and firmly clamp the RJ45 connector with the multifunction crimping pliers. Do not release force when clamping to avoid false contact between the connector and the core wires (see Figure 4). After the cables are made, use the RJ-45 cable gauge to check if the FE cables are made up to the standard. Key Points and Precautions In Step 3, the naked core wires should not be too long. Otherwise the sheath may not be clamped in the RJ45 connector and the wires may become flexible later.

8.1.5 Making Jumper Connectors Installation Steps

Remove about 50mm of the jumper sheath with a knife to expose the metal part (see Figure 1). Apply grease to the metal part and let the rear cover of the connector go through the metal part. Screw down with a wrench. At the point 25mm from the bottom of the connector rear cover, remove the metal part and the white insulating body in it to expose the copper core (see Figure 2). File down the metal part with a semicircular file, and screw down the front cover to the rear cover with the wrenches (see Figure 3). Cover the connector with a heat-shrink sleeve. Heat the sleeve with a heat gun to make it tightly wrap the jumper (see Figure 4).

Use a brush to clean off the dusts after the cutting (see Figure 1). Apply grease to the metal part. Let the rear cover of the connector go through the metal part and make the spring ring against the external metal part of the feeder (see Figure 2). Move the rear cover of the connector to the front part until the spring ring against the external metal part. Remove the dust and sharp edges in the cross section (see Figure 3). Take out the front cover of the connector. Connect the inner conductor in the connector to the feeder core, push the connector and make sure the connector and the feeder contact securely. Screw the rear cover of the connector to make it contact the screw thread in the connector. Fix the connector and the rear cover firmly. All the feeder connectors must have waterproof measures. Refer to 7.5.5 Waterproof Measures for Equipment Connectors for detailed information (see Figure 4). Key Points and Precautions 1 Here takes the straight 7/16-inch DIN coaxial connector and the 7/8-inch feeder as the example to illustrate how to make the feeder connector. Refer to the above steps when making other types of feeder connectors.

8.2.1 Outdoor Labeling Installation Steps

All the labels should be ZTE private labels (see Figure 1).

Paste labels at both ends of the rack-top jumpers: one point 200mm from the master feeder connector and one point 200mm from the BS8900 rack top. Paste labels at both ends of the -48V DC power cable, -48VGND DC power cable, and the ground cable. At the power supply cabinet side, the labels should be 20mm from the power terminals; at the ground bar side, the labels should be 20mm from the ground terminals. Paste labels at both ends of the optical fibers, network cables, and trunk cables. The labels should be 20mm from the cable ends. The labels should face a consistent direction, with the side indicating the outgoing direction upward or facing the operations and maintenance panel, to facilitate reading.

Key Points and Precautions 1 Labels fall into two categories: printed paper labels (used indoors) and tags (used outdoors). It is prohibited to paste labels or write on the boards. If the writing is required, the handwriting must be neat and the labels must be pasted tidily.
