OPTION: 1 SITE

PATLIPUTRA MUSEUM AT BIHAR

The new Pataliputra Museum will be situated on a 13.2 acre (approximately 53,000 sq mts) site in central Patna.

INTRODUCTION
Pataliputra is the name of the ancient city that is todays Patna. Pataliputra was the capital of the first unified Indian kingdom and the great Magadhan Empire. The new Pataliputra Museum will focus on the contributions from this area to the evolution of the history and civilization of the Indian Subcontinent. The collections to be displayed in the new museum include many great and important stone, bronze and terra-cotta sculptures and artefacts that tell the stories of ancient Pataliputra and the lasting impact these cultures have had on the region, India and the World. Stories of the Buddha, Mahavir, Ashoka and other great political, literary and scientific world leaders from this period will be told in the new museum.

The Department of Art, Culture and Youth (DACY) along with the Building Construction Department (BCD) of the Government of the State of Bihar is planning to develop an iconic museum in Patna, which stands on the site of the capital of Indias ancient Magadhan Empire, Pataliputra. This new facility, the Bihar Museum, will focus on the contributions made by this empire and the entire region of Bihar to the evolution of history and civilization in the Indian subcontinent and throughout Asia. It will be developed on a 13.2 acre site located on Bailey Road in Patna. Six spacious government bungalows, housing a university and a church among others, spread over 13.2 acres would be demolished to build the museum.

AIM To showcase the conserved relics and the remains of Patliputra which would show
magnificent contribution of Bihar to the evolution of Indian subcontinent.

Why the topic is being selected..?


History museums cover the knowledge of history and its relevance to the present and future. Some cover specialized curatorial aspects of history or a particular locality, others are more general. Such museums contain a wide range of objects, including documents, artefacts of all kinds, art, archaeological objects. It would be my pleasure to design such an building which will have an historical importance.

SITE

INTRODUCTION

Lucknow Industrial Development Authority (LIDA) has been established by Government of Uttar Pradesh under the provisions of .Uttar Pradesh Industrial Development Act-1976., with an objective to accelerate the rate of industrial development in the State by providing enabling infrastructure in the area notified under this Authority which lies between the districts of Lucknow and Unnao. As a part of this endeavour to promote industrial

development, LIDA gas decided to promote an Information Technology Park (the Project) adjacent to Lucknow - Kanpur National Highway No 25 on the Bijnaur Road is spread on an area of approx. 1,30,000 sq. mt.. The site is about 14 km from the Lucknow International Airport and about 25 km from Lucknow Railway station. Lucknow International Airport is well connected by air with Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad. Several International flights to Sharjah, Dubai, Muscat and Doha are operated from here. Lucknow has Indian Institute of Management, King George Medical College, Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute, Ram Manohar Lohia Post Graduate Institute of Medical Science, Central Drug Research Institute, etc. Lucknow also houses more than 80 IT/ITes units which are engaged in the development of software and export. Software Technology Park (STPI) is also established here to provide administrative support and incubation facility. Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur and more than 20 engineering and management institutes are established in Lucknow to support the need for requisite trained man power.

AIM
The aim is to create an architectural vocabulary which can reflect the multifarious characters and provide an integrated space in which the built and landscaped area would be seen as the single entity with appropriate and Conducive environment.

The project also aims at an effort to create an office environment that does not abuse the urban space wherein an Office space in urban setup is rendered into on absolutely introvert space in terms of social interaction within a community of the workers.

Why the topic is being selected..?

Every man needs a special environment that imparts tranquillity to the spirit and stimulant to mind. India has earned itself a reputation of an IT superpower. Software Technology Parks of India has played a seminal role in accomplishing this status. Today, STPIs across over the country are synonymous with excellent Infrastructure and Statutory support aimed at furthering growth of Information Technology in the country.
