December 16, 2009 Bid Specification Temporary Indoor Hitting Facility Site Preparation Scope of Work: The site behind the left field fence of Shipley Field, adjacent to the Varsity Team House will be prepared for the installation of a temporary indoor hitting facility through the completion of the following work: Demolition: Excavating 8 of existing blue stone o The area to be excavated will be clearly marked with white paint o The area will be graded to follow the current slope running north to south; the area will be graded to level east to west o Contractor is responsible for disposal Removal of non-load bearing handball court wall o A saw cut will be made 1 from the perpendicular wall of the Varsity Team House o Any damage to the existing concrete due to the removal of this wall will be the responsibility of the contractor to return to pre-damaged condition o Contractor is responsible for disposal Remove 14 poles that currently frame the batting cages at or below grade o A skim coat of concrete will be put over the cut pole Removal of 2 stumps

Installation: Install 4 of 57 stone and compact Pour approximately 2,652 square feet of concrete, 4 thick, 4,000 psi wire reinforced o New concrete will match, as seamlessly as possible, the existing concrete An area roughly 168 square feet of existing concrete will be removed and repoured o This area will be clearly marked with white paint An area roughly 407 square feet of existing concrete will be removed, the area regraded to match the highest elevation of the surrounding area o This area will be raised roughly 1 foot

Facilities, Operations & Events A gentle slope will allow this section of concrete to blend into the surrounding, newly poured concrete pad An adequate amount of expansion joints will be cut into the concrete pad to ensure the pad can handle the expansion/contraction throughout the year Rerouting of the downspout gutters that feed from the Varsity Team House to the current site o Gutters will be rerouted to dump collected water onto the Varsity Team House weight room roof, then from this point the water will be shed away from the site and deposited into the grassy area near the pull up bars o A single row of bricks, 71 linear feet, will be laid 18 from the Varsity Team House and secured with mortar; this will help to ensure water does not run off the shelter ceiling and into the tent o A similar row of mortared bricks, 93 linear feet, will run 18 from the west edge of the concrete pad, to ensure water will be directed into the stones and away from the tent o A swale will be created in the soil immediately off the west end of the concrete pad to catch and direct water into the surface drain just inside the left field fence of Shipley Field o

Completion Date: The site must be prepared, and the concrete pad completed, by January 11, 2010
