Abstract

The legalization of the Cybercrime Prevention Act caused a lot of debate between internet users, including many students from St. James Academy. They were very opinionated about the law and would voice out their views about it on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. Because of this, the researcher decided to conduct a study about the effects of the Cybercrime Law to the students. The study was focused on the grade 9 students, who were chosen as the respondents. The research aimed to identify if the Cybercrime Law has a positive or negative effect on the grade 9 students and to identify the ways in which the law affects the students. To gather the needed data, a survey questionnaire was used and was distributed to the five sections in the grade 9 level. There were 100 respondents, 20 in each section. After the researcher got the answered questionnaires and finished tallying the data, the results showed that the Cybercrime Law has a positive effect on the students. According to them, they became more responsible in using the internet after the law was implemented. It also made them feel safe from cybercriminals who are all over the internet. Furthermore, most of the students are in favor of the Cybercrime Law.
