S 11 tr.83-86 SUMMARY Advertising has long been considered a realm of the art of language in use with a variety of methods and devices and pun is regarded an artful deviation that can help attract, persuade and change potential customers attitude. This paper aims at finding how pun and its devices employed in Vietnamese and English advertisements from three perspectives: (i) the concept of advertising and advertising language, (ii) definitions of pun and (iii) pun-in-use in the collected advertisements.
