3. Configuration Guide
3.1 Default Configuration
ADSL MODEM has pre-configured with the VCI/VPI which is in common use. The default dial-up mode is bridge encapsulation. For bridge mode, no need to configure any more parameter. However, the third party dial-up software is needed for connection with the Internet.
3.2.1 Log In
Power on to start the device, making sure your computer can PING via LAN port of ADSL (the factory default IP is 192.168.1.1), then run IE. Inputting http://192.168.1.1 in the address column, press ENTER, and authentication interface will pop up as below:
The default username and password is Admin for web log-on. Press ENTER or click on OK to enter into ADSL main page to perform configuration after entering the accurate user name and password in the dialog box. Warning: Please be sure IP of the computer network card is in the same IP range as ADSL LAN port before trying to log on (ex: 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.21 are in the same IP range). Please follow the steps below to enter: IE---Tool---Internet Option---Connection---LAN Setup---Proxy server, disable the function Proxy for LAN, that disable the proxy server. If log on successfully, the main page will be displayed as follows:
To reboot the device from the Commit and Reboot page, select a reboot mode from the drop-down menu, and then click Reboot. You can select from the following reboot options:
Reboot is the default setting and reboots using the settings currently in memory, including any changes you made and committed during the current session. Reboot from factory reboots the device to default settings provided by your ISP or the manufacturer. Choosing this option erases any custom settings.
Using PPPoA (Point to Point Protocol over ATM) allows Internet access only after you have entered a valid username and password. Using PPPoE (Point to Point Protocol over Ethernet) allows Internet access only after you have entered a valid username and password. Using RFC1483. Bridging.
Before starting Internet Connection, please obtain the following information from your ISP:
IP settings: Dynamic or Fixed. If fixed, then your ISP should also provide you an IP address NAT: Disabled or Enabled PPP User Name and Password (also known as Broadband User Name and Password)
ADSL is a form of DSL, a data communications technology that enables faster data transmission. It does this by utilizing frequencies that are normally not used by a voice telephone call. The distinguishing characteristic of ADSL is that the volume of data flow is greater in one direction than the other, i.e. it is asymmetric. Providers usually market ADSL as a service for people to connect to the Internet in a relatively passive mode: able to use the higher speed direction for the "download" from the Internet but not needing to run servers that would require bandwidth in the other direction. Your modem supports multiple standards/annexes of ADSL such as AnnexA, BisA, BisB and BisM. This page allows you to
Select multiple standards/annexes, which must be auto-negotiated when the DSL line trains, by selecting multiple check-boxes. Configure basic and advanced attributes for each standard/annex by clicking on the basic and advanced links. Revert to default settings by clicking on the Defaults button. Start the line train-up by clicking on the Start button.
You will be able to Edit or Delete or Add an Internet Connection. Here below is the way to add an Internet Connection. 1) Click the Add button on the Internet Connection Configuration, then;
4) Configure WAN IP Settings (if necessary), Please make Enable NAT chosen;
10
6) Click Apply to finish the configuration. 7) Check the status of DSL connection.
11
12
Please click MAC Address Filter on the top-right of the interface to access to the MAC address filter page.
Enable Select MAC Auth MAC Address, and then input the MAC Address which is willing to be restricted. Click Apply to enable the configuration. Users could also click Delete to remove the setting.
4. Voice Configuration
The Voice configuration page displays the status of the Voice functionality. It displays the status of the endpoints (phones), whether they are registered (connected) or not. You can enable the Voice service and can choose the desired protocol (SIP/MGCP) to be used by the Voice system. The page allows you to set the registration password for the endpoints (to be used by the proxy server for authentication).
13
VOIP Functionality: choose enable SIP or not Region: choose the region where the modem is used in Cid Type: choose Cid Type DTMF Mode: choose DTMF mode.
Proxy: The IP address or Domain Name of the proxy server. Proxy Port: The UDP port of the proxy server. Register: The IP address or Domain Name of the SIP register server. Register Port: The register UDP port of the server. Register Transport: the type of register transport Outbound Server: The IP address or Domain Name of the outbound proxy server. Outbound Server Port: The UDP port of the outbound proxy server.
14
End point Number: The register phone number assigned to the device. Login Name: The authentication password for registration. Display Name: The displayed name associated with the register number, this name will be send as caller ID. Registration Status: The register status of the account Registered or Not Registered.
15
Notes: X represents any number between 0-9 [268] represents any number in set {2, 6, 8} . represents any number of digits. T represents dial timeout. * not a wildcard, represent asterisk key only. # not a wildcard, represent hash key only. Example: 0591. means any number start with 0591 8XXX means any 4 digits number start with 8 13[579] means any number start with 135, 137, 139 X.T means the number will be sent out when dial timeout time reached. *X.# means any number start with * and finish with #. X.# means any number end with #. Be aware here, X.# will send # as part of the dialed number. 1234567# means all those 8 characters will be send as a number. Use # as send key option in the Other Settings page has lower priority then the digit maps.
5. Other Configuration
5.1 LAN Configuration
Configuration of Modems IP address and password.

6. Troubleshooting
6.1 Unable to Access Internet
6.1.1 Check the Line and the Device
1 Check the indicator of power supply is on, if not, Make sure the connection of power supply is correct; Make sure the output of power supply is correct; Make sure the switch of power supply is turned on 2 Check the indicator of PC is on, if not, Make sure the connection of cable and network adapter; Make sure that the correct cable is used; 3 Check the ADSL LED to see if it is twinkling. If no fast twinkling is observed within 3 minutes, please check whether phone line has been correctly placed; whether ADSL separator is correctly used. If multiple extensions have been installed, make sure that the separator is installed prior to the junction box of phone line. If the above items are confirmed and still no fast twinkling of ADSL LED is observed, call the ISP to query whether ADSL service has been provided on your line; 4 Check the ADSL LED to see whether it is unable to change status from fast twinkling to always light, or whether it changes status to fast twinkling after sometime of always light. If these phenomena occur constantly, please contact your ISP with a demand to check lines and signal quality; If there is no problem in the above items, the line and the device shall be working. Problems may come from your computer configuration or device configuration.
check the settings of the PC terminal, e.g. whether the security level is too high, or whether anti-virus firewall is installed; If ping is not reachable, check the DNS setting of Ethernet adapter. See 3.2.
Note 1The precondition is that LAN settings in the modem has not been modified. Note 2 We usually start command line mode in Windows XP as follows: click on the RUN item of Windows Start Menu, input characters cmd in the input box popped up with an Enter. The window subsequently popped up is the command line window. Note 3The returned values of ping command in the following format show the standard of reachable
6 If ping of the modem is reachable but ping of the outer fixed IP is unreachable, attention should be concentrated upon device settings. Please enter the configuring interface following the instructions in this manual. 1 Check first the number of connections. If more than one connection exists, for troubleshooting, delete unused connections and remain the one connection you are using. 2 Check the connection to see whether correct type is selected. Its normal to choose login type of PPPoE. When you use PPPoE to login, the following information should be provided: VPI and VCI, which can be queried from your ISP, user name and password. 3 Then make sure that using NAT and default gateway have been selected with a tick. Check whether connect on demand has been selected with a tick. If it is selected, the connection is activated only when traffic to outer networks arrives. If not selected, check keep connection, which should be set to 0 if you demand to keep connection Make sure that the above parameters are saved after configuration. Internet is now available since the configuration is properly done.
