Public Interest Skills/Pro Bono (SLPS) Fellowship Announcement: Fall 2013

The Professional Skills Program is looking for a recent Boalt graduate for a one year fellowship beginning August 1, 2013. Persons taking the bar exam may begin on August 5, 2013. The Fellow will: Provide support to student leadership of the Student-Initiated Legal Services Projects (SLPS); Plan and coordinate recruitment, orientation, and training events for SLPS volunteers; Develop orientation, training, and practice manuals for SLPS leaders and volunteers; Work with SLPS projects to identify pro bono attorney supervision; Develop and maintain institutional memory for SLPS; Perform outreach to identify new pro bono opportunities for Boalt students; Assist in the administration of an innovative course on pro bono and leadership; Collaborate with the Field Placement Program; Collaborate with the Career Development Office to administer the Pro Bono Pledge; Coordinate events for National Pro Bono week in October; Help administer the new SLPS fund; Participate in meetings of the Public Interest Working Group; Coordinate Public Interest and Pro Bono Graduation; Plan and administer events and panels focused on issues related to pro bono practice; and Develop recruitment materials and a website aimed at students and pro bono attorneys. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the current SLPS projects and their leaders, and will have worked as a SLPS leader while at Boalt.
